Easy to get points when you can’t play both sides of the ice, you’re playing on a brutally bad team, you get premium powerplay time, most of the offensive zone opportunities, and the best lines mates.

They’re all from the same draft class. Dach was taken 3rd over all and will probably end up the best of the bunch long term. Downside of Zegras is that now he’s over paid, and he’s only on a short term deal.

And he's also nitpicking.

@Jah1722
Zegras has 7 points this season in 20games. A 30 point pace which is half of Dach's pace last season. See how I can nitpick the stats in my favour and ignore all context.
Once expectations grew with a bigger contract. Bad team effect much like Max Domi and AA on Chicago, someone has to score the goals on a bad team.
That explains Zegras production as a rookie to now.

Zegras isnt overpaid, and Dach won't still be playing by the time he hits 27, he may have had the highest ceiling but the guys been under the knife too many times and missed too many games. Chicago also punted on him because they had mishandled his development.

Colorado didn't have the time to wait for Newhook to develop into what they needed him to be.

This is why Montreal was able to acquire those players for the picks they paid, they were rehabilitation projects. Anaheim hasn't botched Zegras's development, he has a home on the roster that doesn't need to be vacated for someone else, and we don't have a problem making him a winger where he has less defensive responsibility, of which this season he had been playing the best defensive hockey of his career. We're developing him into a better 2 way player, which is a lot easier to do that to develop a two way player into an offensive threat.

And best line mates? You know how often he was put out their with Nick Delories or Sam Carrick? The only top line mate he's been out there with is Troy Terry who's a very good 2nd line winger.

Is 40.8% career in the face off circle good? He’s probably a winger long term.
Putting up points. Vs. Putting up points while also being good defensively. Vs. Putting up points while also being good defensively while also winning. Vs. Putting up points while also being good defensively while also winning enough to make the playoffs while also playing well in playoff hockey….

I could keep going.

Biggest reason I think they might move him, his contract structure sets a horrible precedent for their new group of core young forwards. Get guys to commit immediately to max term deals that you are sure they will grow into. Or keep bridge deals low, and only pay guys once they’re fully proven.
Suzuki and Caufield deals was a smart way to go. Bergevin looks like a total genius on the Suzuki deal, as his did on most of his signings. The odds exception (Alzner) still happened though, no one’s perfect…

The 4 year deals for Dach and Newhook for Hughes are both absolutely amazing. And still RFAs at the end of them.

We're fine with playing him on the wing, we've got the center depth to do it, and all the rest of what you said is straight rambling.
