They're not trading Byfield and Chychrun can't be extended until July 1st, after the draft

That's a bad trade for LA. Get ready for Kings fans.

They aren't trading Byfield, and not for that return.

Actually I heard they would be open to moving Byfield if the right player came along. Yes I should've included the 2025 1st rounder not 2024 But Ottawa would extend him in the summer for 8 years giving L.A. team control for 9 seasons. Brannstrom and Kaliyev are project swaps, and L.A. thriows in the 1st rounder for Ottawa adding the year of control and top 4 defenseman who are proven point producers are at a premium.

Chychrun isn't the right player to consider moving Byfield. Stutzle on the other hand 1 for 1 would get consideration, outside of him OTT has nothing the Kings want.

Chychrun for 9 seasons, Kaliyev and Brannstrom are an even swap of two players needing a change of scenery. Byfield won't be extended and will want good money after this season. So I think it's a fair swap. Ottawa taking on Kaliyev and his QO helps L.A. with their cap space to re-sign Roy.

I don't think anyone considers Kaliyev a project yet, maybe Turcotte for Brannstrom if you are looking for a swap. LA can negotiate an 8 year extension if they want but they really don't have anywhere on their blue line to put Chychrun. No idea where you read that about Byfield

Lol, why on earth wouldn't Byfield be extended? Kings have aging players and Byfield is a young, highly skilled forward. They will bridge him or sign him long-term. He doesn't even have arb rights.

Byfield will battle Stutzle for best player in that draft for years to come. I think it’ll make both players better.

Los Angeles wouldn't trade Byfield alone for that package, never mind a useful young third-line forward with upside and a first-round draft pick. He has improved every season and has 30 points so far this one, which would put him in your top 6. He'll be a King until his free agent eligibility comes up.

Chychrun for Jordan Spence and the 2025 first is fair and reasonable. Brannstrom is a bottom-pairing defender while Kaliyev is another improving forward who has middle 6 potential.

Kings have roughly 22M to sign 10 players, including Roy and Byfield taking about half of that, they need 2 G as well. trading Byfield for Chych gives them 1 year of relief, Byfield will make at least 4-6M on a bridge deal.

the Dubois deal is looking worst and worst for the Kings every day.

althos OTT would not be opposed to Byfield, he does not fix their problem and that is RD, no guarantee Pesce comes to OTT

Pierre Lebrun has brought it up a couple of times.... Once for Jusse Saros in Nashville.... Then I think it was for potentially Konecny in Philly. I understand the thought process but inclined to agree that Byfrield is still a very interesting prospect. But 66 points in 143GP.... I could see L.A. maybe consider it? Chychryn is a guy L.A. apparently chased when he was in Arz. Anyways spitballing here lol.... Some might not agree with this? But It's not as far fetched as some of the teams I have seen put together on here lol

Dude? No one on here is a GM and makes these come to life. It's a forum... There aren't any guarantee's there isn't even a guarantee that Chychyn gets moved....Tarasenko might re-sign? So obviously Pesche might not come here.... It's just creating a team under the cap. It's all imaginary, just make it realistic. I think for the most part this is realistic albeit unlikely....

Byfield has 66 points is 163GP... Something like that.... Stutzle has 221pts in like 250GP. L.A. would have to pony up a whole arsenal on top of Byfield to pull Stutzle out of Ottawa. 14G 33PTS is Byfield's career high and he has done it this season. Stutzle will likely land in the 90-95 points range this season on a weaker team than L.A. The Kings have Kopitar, Dubois (unmoveable), & Danault as the 3 top 9 centers for the foreseeable future. They also have Turcotte and Pinelli in the minors. Teams aren't going to take Turcotte for a top 4 blueliner like Chychryn... Pinelli doesn't have the value yet, as he is unproven. Byfield has very good value, but is also unproven. He does not deserve to be in the same category as Stutzle.... So it would make sense that Byfield would make sense. L.A. might not like it.... but L.A. isn't going to get the caliber of Chychryn for a guy like Turcotte....

You are getting your quotes wrong. LeBrun said that Nashville wants Byfield, not that LA is willing to make him available.

Players have learning curves and Byfield is no exception to that. Trying to argue he has 66 points In 143 games played when he had 33 in his first 99 is just pure ignorance. He literally has more points in this season alone than he did in his first 99 NHL games. Look at Jack Hughes, the guy had 52 points in his first 117 games played, nearly an identical pace.
