This team is almost .500 and is heading into Calgary Flames territory of being a forever 14th ovr pick holder for the next couple years if they keep the depth guys rotation, they have a very promising farm of offensive and defensive pieces that could use a few more pieces. McCann is by far their most valuable and trade-able asset and is at his peak value in my mind. A team like the AVS could definitely overpay quite a bit for him due to their need at 2C and his contract

Sorry to burst your bubble but Chicago declines. RyJo has negative value. If you want to attach a 2nd to dump him I'm sure there's a deal to be made but Chicago isn't trading anything for him.

No Hawks do not take that deal, because they are not suckers. Johansen has been overpaid for quite some time & on the wrong side of 30, so his best days are behind him. He would need to have picks &/or prospects attached to him to get the Hawks to even consider taking him on.

I agree. As exciting as it is that we really might be getting him back, we can't just expect him to be top line ready right away. It's been 2 years since this man played an NHL game. I think he more likely gets a 2nd line roll to start (I'd actually say 3rd line but you can't separate the roaring 20s line rn). And since Drouin has proven himself there, I think he stays there for a bit. Also, where's Kovalenko?

Ryjo is not good anymore and would waste a roster spot on a rebuilding team.

Someone may take him but it's not CHI unless you attach a premium piece.

I understand not wanting him for free, but a frickin 2nd? For a 40 point guy? No. He only has 1 deal left after this season anyway. And if $4M a year is too much for your team with other negative contracts like Correy Perry while he was there, Foligno and Dickenson (and if you really want to get picky, Zaitsev and Tyler Johnson), that's ok. Notice how every guy I just noted is getting or will get around $4M plus next year or is rn.

Yeah, there are 32 teams in the league. If you subtract Hawks, Avs, Preds & Jackets, that leaves 28 phone calls that could be made. Good Journey.

It's not really about the guy. It's more about the team needing cap space and a team with cap space exploiting that need.

Just to keep everything straight: Johnson, Zaitsev & Dickinson are all on the Hawks because they were camp dumps that other teams paid the Hawks to take. They got Folgino & Hall for 2 boarderline NHL/AHL defensemen. Yeah, in hindsight the 7th round pick they gave up for Perry was too much, as it turns out.

I'm not saying either team does that deal, johansen looks bad this year because he doesn't have the speed that's needed to play for this avs team.
Doesn't mean his faceoffs, experience, and skill wouldn't help a Chicago team that lacks those things for 1 year while helping stay above the cap floor (reason foligino perry and dickinson got those deals) on a team that is trying to lose so they can restock the cupboards.

Again I can see him going for FC or a C level prospect but don't expect a premium piece to go the other way.

    I don’t expect anything.
I am following how Kyle Davidson is handling business. I can’t see him taking on Johnson w/o being paid “well” to take him on. We could argue all day on what “well” should be w/o agreeing. This season is lost for the Hawks & none of the intangibles you listed move the needle this season. Next season the Hawks can overpay whomever they like in free agency to get to the cap floor. In all honesty I don’t see it happening, but as I don’t have any real say in the matter, time will tell.

He looks bad because he is bad. The only reason he has any points is because of the players he has around him and he has a pretty good shot. So, he is essentially an opportunist. He isn't going to to have those opportunities with CHI. Not only that, but CHI doesn't want him... So, the only benefit to anyone in this trade is in COL clearing the cap space, which is the definition of a cap dump. And teams pay for cap dumps.

Yes. We have been injury plagued, which is why we went out and snagged a few players on the cheap this year or through waivers. But now, we have more than enough bodies. Most of our injured players will be back pretty soon, and we will have to waive a lot of guys just to make space. So, taking on more players this year isn't likely to be in the cards for CHI this season, unless maybe we are being paid to do so.

Lmao it seems like I'm beating a dead horse with the RJ to Hawks trades, it's clear the Hawks don't need or want him so to all Hawks fans I promise to be better and at least attach a 3rd!

Every year there is a somewhat shocking TDL move, I'm calling my shot that something like this will happen with the Avalanche. They are by far the best team in the league with Landy healthy and I think Sakic knows this, with Mack somehow having his best season yet I think he overpays for a stud 2C and makes a move happen. The Kraken should start a re-tool soon, they have a ton of their original expansion draft depth veterans on deals expiring in the next 1-2 years. This is the window for them to build around Beniers and Evans.

I'm not sure about this one but can't say I'm altogether opposed. Interested to hear what Kraken fans think. Possibly worth considering Behrens in that trade though if he doesn't look like signing with the Avs. No idea how the Kraken's pipeline looks at LD though off the top of my head (and it's far too late now to go and look lol).
