Description
*This is purely my opinion. No trades assumed. Only RFAs Detroit has the rights to are signed.

*I am over the salary cap but the rule states I can be up to 10% over the cap in the offseason. Detroit will have to make roster moves to clear that cap situation up.

It's appalling how many Red Wings players are overpaid. They are good pro players but their contracts don't match their skillsets, Offensively, the potentials of Tatar, Nyquist, Larkin, Athanasiou, and Mantha should have Wings fans excited but they really need to rebound after almost everyone had a trying year on the team last season. Is it Jeff Blashill? Fill me in Wings fans. Henrik Zetterberg is expected to have a decrease in production as age is his now his biggest enemy. He probably has a couple good seasons left in the tank before the rigors of the pro game catch up to him. The Red Wings need to really improve their bottom 6 if they want to start a new playoff streak. One would hope Sheahan can hit the twine a few more times this year and that players like Helm can stay healthy and perform. If Tyler Bertuzzi is even half as good as he was in Grand Rapids, he will really help put the Wings bottom 6 in a better direction. On defence, guys like Danny Dekeyser and Jonathan Ericsson are clearly overpaid. Niklas Kronwall's best years are clearly behind him and he's also not being paid as he should for his current level of play. It's time for Xavier Ouellet and Ryan Sproul to get some proper playing time to try to lead the next generation of Wings d-men. Can't be worse than last year can it? If I'm Petr Mrazek or Jared Coreau, I am so livid right now. Howard was protected in the expansion draft leaving Mrazek scratching his head in frustration and what more does Coreau have to do in Grand Rapids to at least earn the backup job in Detroit? If one or both of them is not done with this gongshow in goal, I would be shocked. I know it's difficult to trade Howard at that contract and I know Howard outplayed Mrazek immensely last season but protecting Howard has still gotta play with Mrazek's mind which I'm sure will start to spell the end of Mrazek's time in Detroit. My goaltending rating is based on ability I've seen, not this drama that's starting to fester.
