Description
Just looking at a 2c option and thought of wennberg. Good defense and can play anywhere in the lineup while having some offense that could blossom with better linemates.

Ik it's not a flashy move but still cheaper and an option that the jets could pursue

Monahan won’t cost an insane price and regardless, isn’t a top 6C that WPG needs.
Lindholm would be worth the price
Wennberg works as a backup plan to Lindholm though, so… I’d be ok with this if Lindholm doesn’t workout.

Id prefer this tbh the difference between wennberg and Lindholm/Monahan isn't huge. Keep the 1st 2nd and prospects to trade for potentially another player (top 4 rhd) either this deadline or offseason

Wouldn't mind this at all, I'd like Granlund though.

The Boston game showed they need at least another mid six center with some offensive capability, even just another Namestnikov type would help weather a short term injury.

I don't want to sell the farm for a rental.

Hopefully it was just one game BUT the Jets entire D core was AWFUL so an upgrade on the blueline would be alright too!

I don’t mind about this trade.
I bet Seattle is asking Winnipeg for a first round pick.

Wennberg ain't worth a 1st. If somehow Monahan gets one Wennberg is not lol. He's comparable to domi trade deadline last year.

Granlund has term which is nice but below 50% (48.75%) on faceoffs and if he isn't a fit we have a problem next year. Wennberg has 1 year left so if he fits amazing do another Namestnikov type deal for him next year not to mention he's averaged 18+ minutes a night on a bad kraken team yet has a worse faceoff % (46.1%).

Wennberg will be cheaper and less risky without the term.

Wennberg is probably the best option for a playoffs team. I think this trade might be fair. Lesser player than big names like Lindholm and Monahan or even Henrique, but still a reliable middle six C

Frankly Monahan and Lindholm are the best available but are they going to give 1st round pick output? Most likely not unless injury as both would be likely 2nd line ice time with 2nd pp and 2nd pk. Getting a wennberg or henrique are cheaper and still beneficial to a contender and can even outperform lindholm or Monahan or whoever else. Just more room for the price and output to match rather than a 1st and prospect for a lindhom/Monahan that gets 5 points in 7 games or wennberg with 3 and keep so many more assets.

Lindholm without an extension would be stupid for any team. Monahan is a good player (as a habs fan, I would give a first for him if we were competing and he wasn’t on our team), but I doubt Winnipeg want to enter the bidding war that is gonna happen. Henrique would cost too much for what he offers, giving his poor playoffs record

Wennberg is a perfect fit besides his poor faceoffs which isn't the end of the world but Lindholm and Monahan have 55% or higher and Wennberg is at 46%. Jets need a middle six guy not the best guy on the market who can step in wherever and make an impact. It sounds like Monahan but too expensive for what he'd likely bring impact wise. Jets need a Monahan that may not be as good but costs around what I paid here.
