No reason for Habs to do that right now. Dvorak is out for season, and Labanc is up this season.

Leafs need to get more puck mobility from their D and they need to get more physical from their D. They need a true top 3 type dman, who is a puck moving and who is physical. That is the optimal target. Ferraro is none of those things. He is not a fit and definitely not at that price. Leafs pass easily.

This does get Montreal out from under Dvorak’s contract one year earlier. They could use that cap space to their advantage in other ways. It also gives Owen Beck a chance to possibly make the team at 3C behind Suzuki and Dach. I kind of like the idea (only giving up a 4th round pick to do it too).

I know Dvorak could rebuild his value next year, but frankly his time in Montreal has not been great. It might be best for everyone to just move on.

I agree with you, except for the 4th. There is no inherent need to make this trade but 1 for 1 would make more sense. Adding the pick (only a 4th but still) is where this falls off for me.

I wouldn’t mind Rutta in Ottawa. I’m not sure how interested the sharks would be in Forsberg considering he’s going to be out long term.

Poolman is LTIRetired and will never play again, so basically Duclair for a 4th? I’d do that if management doesn’t want to cough up the top end assets for the higher value players available.
