This is a bad post. A 6th round pick?

Friedman also reported that teams were calling on Xhekaj and habs said he is not available.

6th round pick for a 7th Dman is pretty normal. Maybe could go as high as a 4th

Oh so you will give us Podkolzin for a 6th? Deal.

If you're from BC you should know how it works. You send valuable resources to Quebec/MTL and they send back nothing of value. This trade is backwards

He's not a 7th Dman, he's got legitimate top 4 upside and Montreal just isn't interested in trading him. Your offer is absurd.

Not for a 6th, maybe if you added say Lekkerimaki, you have to give us something we would be interested in to convince us to change our minds

he averages 15:09 per night in his career, and that number has gone down this year. he is last in average ice time amongst all defenseman who have played a game for montreal thisyear. he just got demoted to the AHL for a month and a half. he doesnt score a lot, doesnt play special teams, and gets the softest matchups on the habs.

Noah Juulsen, comparatively, is vancouver's current 7th defenseman. he and Xhekaj both have similar hit totals (9.99 per 60 for juulsen and 9.88 per 60 for xhekaj) and similar TOI per game (14:50 for xhekaj and 14:24 for juulsen). they both play soft matchups at 5v5 and are defense first players with very little offensive upside. however, juulsen averages 1:20 more short handed ice time per game (he also has the best underlying stats for penalty killing amongst all canucks defenseman), so at least he is contributing in another area than just "big physical defenseman".

if the canucks did aquire xhekaj, he'd very likley be 8th on the depth chart when everyone is healthy.

and its not like xhekaj is 19 or 20 years old. he's 23 this month, no longer can be viewed as a "prospect". the ceiling is very low on this player

I know Dhaliwal mentioned Xhekaj but I would much rather us go after Kovacevic. If we decide to move Kuzmenko to facilitate a bigger acquisition I wonder if MTL would be interested in Kuzmenko.

NHLer > AHLer

(I'm being facetious in response to the posters who have made the same comments about Xhekaj while he was in the minors.)

That aside, there have been enough rumors of teams trying to acquire Xhekaj, that alone would suggest his value is much higher than a 6th round pick. This isn't even an honest attempt at making a proposal.

teams are interested in Xhekaj because he is a solid depth player for the playoffs. good size and if injuries pop up he can play 14 5v5 mins for you while you rest your top guys. value would be a 4th-6th for these types of players

There are indeed plenty of options in that price range, but Xhekaj is not one of them.
When multiple teams target a specific player, that separates them from the pack.
