So essentially Chabot for Middleton and Tanev. I love Tanev's game, but that trade is terrible for Ottawa. Middleton is playing big minutes, but the results are not good.

Fast forward two years, Middleton is gone because someone will offer one of those Erik Gudbranson "what are you doing" contracts to him. Tanev will be 36, best case scenario his play is about to fall off a cliff, assuming it already hasn't by then. Chabot will be 29 still doing Chabot things

I understand that perspective, but "Chabot things" really aren't that great. Just because a guy can put up 40 points a season playing 30 mins a night (probably half of the league D could do this) shouldn't mask the defensive liability. The players highlighted here are definitely older, cool, but thats exactly what the back end needs. Calmer players that can mae a higher rate of RESPONSIBLE plays, not necessarily flashy ones. Chabots offence can be picked up by the increased minutes for Sanderson and Chychrun, and whatever else the team does with the salary cap savings.

I really doubt the Wild move Middleton and a top pick (#6 atm) for Chabot. He's good but not THAT good.

I think the Wild would be anticipating that pick not being such a top pick by the end of the season. I find it funny though how you think its too much, but the previous comment thinks its vastly not enough hahaha thank you for this.

If youre not retaining 50% on Taras, youre not getting a 1st.

I wouldn't consider retention a problem given he has a 1 year contract. If thats what it takes then im sure the sens would oblige.

Yeah, but that's because you are vastly overpaying for Tanev. The Flames would LOVE to trade Tanev for a top-six pick, but unfortunately the Wild don't do that trade.

I ripped this up really quickly, but not shown is a contract extension that I would assume would have to be in place for Tanev in order for the Sens to be interested. Not much, maybe a 2 year deal? He's a premium defensive player.

Sure he is. And I don't doubt for a second that the Sens would be interested. Of course they would be. The problem is, Minnesota isn't interested in Chabot enough to trade away an elite lottery pick with the possibility of landing the #1 selection come draft lottery.

No no no I agree with you. I mentioned above that by the time this comes to fruition, I would anticipate that pick being closer to looking like a 10-15th overall if not better by the time the season ends. I think Minnesota picks it up a bit in the coming weeks.

Ah, I see. That's where our difference lies. I don't think the Wild pick it up. At all. At any point. 6/8 of their next games are against playoff teams. They have a bye week incoming and way too many problems to fix. Billy G would be wise to wave the white flag and start to minimize the damage.

Thats fair, I respect that. 2 points for them as things sit right now though brings them to that 10oa range, and the teams in from of them are certified ass lol I guess we shall see! thanks for posting!

Kubalik was offered around with no takers and flaky Chabot @8m cap & 9.5m aav salary is not a positive, but it makes him a Sens for a few more years minimum
