And we counter with Caufield for Hischier since it’s equally as ridiculous

Except Holtz and Guhle are very similar assets: Identical contracts, same draft year (holtz higher capital), neither play premier positions (winger and LD), both strong in 1 area and weaker in another (Guhle struggles offensively, Holtz struggles defensively).

Except Guhle can produce offensively, is way better defensively than Holtz offensively, plays a more valuable position, can play on pp, has a record of actually being good before this season.

Caufield and Hischier are as much similar as Holtz and Guhle. Caufield is a better goal scorer, Hischier is better defensively.

Guhle doesnt struggle offensively, he just plays more of a lock down role, facing every teams top line. If he was put in a position to get points, hed probably be around a 40 point pace on the season.

Guhle's offensive metrics are utterly horrific. His PK metrics are horrific. Holtz is a more valuable power play asset due to his shot.

Guhle doesn't have any record of being good. He has a record of being in the NHL and getting caved in.

Savard and Matheson take 16% of their shift starts in the defensive zone. Guhle just 11%.

Guhle at least score pts, despite bad metrics in his rookie season. Holtz isn’t useful defensively, he is just awful. Holtz offensively is below .500 ppg, while Guhle’s defensive metrics are insane.

Guhle has a WAY better record than Holtz. Dominate juniors, having a 94% EV defense in his rookie year. Not a lot of rookie can be that good.

Holtz isn’t special on the pp either, if he was, he would get pp1 time over all the injured guys you have…

Holtz doesn’t play a lot on power play (although he probably should). He doesn’t play enough 5v5 either, despite being our top 5v5 scorer.

What does “having a 94% EV defense” mean?

Guhle is a tier above Holtz. NJ wouldn't trade L.Hughes for Newhook

Hischier scores more than Caufield, plays more valuable position, defends well, is our team captain…kind of unusual comparison to make.

Holtz and Guhle has very similar value.

on the JFresh card at least Guhle ranks in the 58th%ile in EV defense. (please don't look at the 3rd%ile offense)

I think Holtz and Guhle are about equal in value. The Luke to Newhook comp is not apt…has Luke has a ton more value than any of these guys and Newhook a bit less.

But it’s really about needs and wants. Devils need a dman and feel like offense is in good shape. Habs want a finisher and feel like defense is in good shape.

He was at 78%ile actually last year defensively. And it's taken a step back this year
He was also in the 1st%ile offensively (literal garbage)

Guhle is plays also a more valuable position, is better defensively, better leader.

Saying Guhle = Holtz is like saying Caufield = Hischier

Not really, MTL needs a top-pair caliber D, not a middle 6 guy, just like NJ needs A top pair D (Hughes) over a middle 6 guy (Newhook)

MTL would only trade Guhle for Hischier, Hughes, possibly Hughes, and possibly Nemec. That's it

first pair D at 22 is way more valuable than third line foward at 22.

Value is not close at all.

Jfresh card has holtz projected war at 66% and Guhles at 9%.

Guhle plays tough matchups I’ll give him that. But he gets eaten alive in them.
