He has more goals this year with less ice time

Then keep him. Obviously that isn't very important, or you wouldn't have made this

I heard TBL is interested in Sean Walker.
Why would the Leafs want Sean Walker?

I heard Treliving is interested in him. Right shot D, maybe he'll resign if acquired. Leafs need help on the defense, him or Tanev look like the obvious candidates.

Kakko is still > Robertson, points in a small sample size aside.
I'd imagine there's enough of a bidding war for Walker that loose change doesn't get it done. Probably reaches a 2nd, maybe even a 1st with half-retention.
Peeke...take him. He's free, no cost. If you want to save paperwork, send us Brodie and we'll find somewhere to flip him half-retained for a mid-rounder.

If Kakko sucks then why trade for him?

He has the size to be effective on a third line even if he's not scoring. Leafs can ask him to dump and chase, and he'll have less pressure to produce offensively. Robertson shines in a top six role playing with good players. If he's not scoring he's ineffective. Keefe doesn't trust him defensively.

Also, this trade may look lopsided but it doesn’t matter where in the draft each guy was picked. What matters is how they're playing now. And sometimes young players play better on their second or third teams.

Kakko is in year 5 and still hasn’t been given a fair chance, on top of a serious injury this year. Not to mention he’s their only RW, when Robertson is a LW/C

Flyers decline, rumored asking price is a 1st. I doubt a 3rd and a bunch of late picks will move the needle

Leafs keep the cheaper and better Robertson over Kappo. Peeke shouldn't be on NHL ice.....but somehow so many Leafs just love bottom enders on non playoff teams.
These trades don't make the Leafs better, but make them worse and gives away six picks at the same time.

Disagree. Adding Walker and shedding Brodie makes them better. Peeke is an upgrade on Gio and Timmins. Kakko adds size.

If size is so important play Giordano and Benoit 25 minutes a game. Peeke certainly isn't an upgrade over any Leaf in the top 7. Kakko has been poor really poor this season.

If Leafs can find another Benoit that would be ideal.

Kakko will be a gamble. But Leafs have to start taking risks and get young underperformers from other teams. A couple of them may find their games here and contribute above their cap value.

Drury is shopping Kakko. Getting a young prospect with potential like Robertson would be a very solid return.
