      3rd to dump Vanacek
      7th for Primeau
      5th for Pearson
      3rd for Harris.

I’d give you a second for the package

When you look at Allen’s stats, consider that we’ve been playing with 4-5 rookie D for the past 2 years every night. He’s the best goalie out there, on a good contract in a rising cap environment, with the least amount of risk tied to term left on his deal. Would be the perfect fit for Carolina. We’re basically talking about an early 2nd round pick. There’s no better way for Carolina to improve their team this deadline.

If you want the 1st it’s Montembault going out not Allen.

I think you could certainly convince a cap strapped team to shell out a 1st for Montembault. I was wary on him earlier due to the lack of proven sample size and pre NHL success for his age, but as of so far he’s continued to impress. Maybe would have to throw back a 3rd or something but could be a possibility.

However with Allen’s contract, age, and numbers I just struggle to see a team giving up meaningful assets for him

Carolina also have Freddie coming back, whose better than Allen... you're not getting a 1st for him.

Wrong valuation but I somewhat agree
      Harris second
      Primeau fourth
Pearson negative fifth (or seventh retained)
      Vanecek negative third
So about a second and a third for the package

I could see Harris getting a 2nd potentially.

I think NJD tries to take advantage of the crunch here if it’s us like we did for Siegenthaler.

With Barron, Xhekaj, Struble, Matheson, Kovacevic, Guhle, Savard. That already makes 7 other dmen.

Then if Mailloux/Hutson/Reinbacher are ready that’s 3 more.

I don’t believe Montreal wants to have less than 2 vet dman on the roster so I expect at least 2 of the vets to stay. Dont wanna run out all rookies.

The current system of keeping Barron down in the minors doesn’t seem like a long term solution.

I’d say something has to give and I’d expect to be the LD without waiver exemption status

Andersen’s health is a giant question mark at best, and the Canes are going for the cup. They’ll be in on the auction. We’ll see who offers the most.

Pearson has value as a depth option if a team has LTIR space. Not negative value at all.

I agree. We could always bring in an overpaid vet though, and gain further assets from someone looking to unload.

It’s possible, but for the same reason, I’d rather keep him. Plus he’s waivers exempt until 2026-2027.

He is making 3m and he is awful. I don’t know what can be more of a negative asset player

Struble has been a revelation this year. He got from like 9th on our LD depth chart to 3rd. I think he could easily fetch a high second or a young forward. The team that comes to mind when talking for a D trade is Buffalo. I think Rosen for Struble make sense

I didn’t and don’t think Monahan was very good.

I don’t remember every comment I’ve made, but my general takes were:
      - I think he’s too slow for a team like NJD/Colorado/Edmonton to pay much for him
-I think there’s no chance he gets a non playoff 1st
-I think he gets a fair amount less than Lindholm

I feel like I wasn’t wrong on any of those points.

What he had were the basic counting stats, cheap contract (without the commitment of term), and playing the most valuable position in hockey.

Allen has term that’s honestly pretty pricey, pretty bad basic stats, and plays the least valuable position in hockey.

If Jake Allen had 1 year on his deal I’d be on board to have him in jersey similar to Mrazek (I made a ton of Mrazek proposals before his extension). That 2nd year just makes it tough bc I think I’d rather have 4 mill this offseason to choose my goalie (there’s quite a few low tier options and should be a number of rentals available)
