MTL
  1. Östlund, Noah
Additional Details:
I'm not even sure he's a prospect the habs would be interested in considering we already have mesar in the system
BUF
  1. Barron, Justin
  2. Farrell, Sean
Additional Details:
i saw someone here suggesting barron and the jets 1st but this would be an overpayment , sean farrell had a really nice start to his pro career until he got injured, i think that's a good trade for both teams (should the habs add another pick and if so how good of a pick to get it done)

Can’t see Farrell ever cracking Buffalo’s lineup with their talent in the system already. And being he’s 22/23 years old, that’s unlikely to change. Not an interesting piece for Buffalo

As I said in the previous ACGM of Barron + 1st for Ostlund, Habs are not adding, the value between Ostlund and Barron is almost equal and Barron might have slightly more at this point. Therefore any deal right now would have to be 1 for 1 with neither side adding for it to make sense for both teams.

I honestly think Buffalo trading their higher end prospects for other prospects/Picks is pointless. They need bonafide NHL star vets in return (Not past their prime players mind you). Not maybe's. Guys who will guarantee them playoff appearances because them not making the playoffs once since whenever that was, is legit embarrassing.

I'm know its cool to collect them all and have a team comprised former 1st rounders but at a certain point you got to try something else.

as i said , another 1st on top of barron would be an overpayment for a player like him when they have mesar already (and Farrell is basically the same as well)_

No reason for Buffalo to do this. If they want Barron, they can send Montreal a 2nd.

hes worth around the 20th overall pick where he was picked , barron is also worth around the 20th pick so relax with the overvaluing

heres the problem, barron is still worth the 1st rounder title as a former 1st rounder so no you aint getting him for a 2nd ,

Barron will play next year, Ostlund might get a sniff but he's atleast 2yrs away. I would actually do Ostlund for Barron straight up probably. Get to keep my 1st this year and either use it in another Deal or the way it's looking Top 10 pick and there's some nice player's available.

exactly, many ppl over value 1st rnd picks too much because they never played yet so the dreaem that they'll have impact just like they did before coming to the NHL which it isnt true

Ostlund is one of the best 30 prospects in the league, top 30 over multiple draft years. He's way more valuable than 20th overall. Barron is maybe worth a 2nd at best

Ostlunds floor is Barron's ceiling, Barron's also 3 years older, this would be one of the biggest fleecings in MTL history. Barron is a 2 or 3rd pair rd on a lottery team

Even if he hasn't played in the NHL there are scouts all over the league and media exclaiming how good he is, hes also excelling in one of the biggest leagues outside of the NHL. He isnt some 3rd rounder shot in the dark.

Sabres are absolutely loaded with smaller high end forward prospects. Farrell doesn't do much for us. I think the Sabres are gonna wanna see ostlund play in the ahl before they decide exactly what to do with him. As of today, I would pass, ostlund is coming off a fantastic wjc, and barron, while interesting, doesn't make me wanna move ostlund.

OK, and he would be a 2nd pair RD on a Lottery team if traded here. There might not even be a spot open for Ostlund by the time he's ready.

Ostlund is the superior prospect at this point

Sabres are unlikely to move him,
even if u guys added a 1st to Barron

I think we’d only trade Ostlund if it were a more established young defenseman coming back

It’s not even close
Ostlund is well liked- ONLY way we trade him is for an established young defenseman, someone like Schneider

1- draft status for starters, BIG difference between being picked 25th & 16th

2- Ostlund plays the most important position, Center

3- recent play- Barron was just demoted to the AHL, while Ostlund is playing quite well in the Swedish professional league, & just TORE UP the World Juniors

I’m not saying Barron is garbage, he’s not
He’s still a good young defenseman prospect

But Ostlund is FLYING HIGH, especially recently

So throw Ostlund away for a stop gap instead of realizing his potential and moving him at value or making space for him. That's horrible asset management. As Shaq said "horri-awful"

Stop gap, Justin Barron just turned 22, he has Top 4 potential. He is just sniffing the NHL at this point. And Ostlund is a good prospect who hasn't even come over yet and might never make it. Ostlund has good potential but that's all it is until he actually comes over and does it.

This is the first Year he's been ranked in the Top 30 at 30. He was ranked 36th just before the WJC. But most had him 40 to 74 on there rankings since he was drafted. I hope the kid reaches his potential. Sabres have a **** ton of potential and if you sign Mitts to a extension the Sabres are gonna have problems fitting it all.

Barron doesn't have top 4 potential unless he's on a bad team. He's not a good dman and will be a journey man depth player

So his value is going up, the 1st year after he was drafted. Especially after dominating the best tournament for prospects after that scout rating came out. You don't throw that away for a player that isn't a lock. Barron is far from a top 4 lock. We all agree the Sabres need to make a trade. The Sabres don't need to get fleeced to appease this.
