If the Kings are targeting a player from the Capitals, it should be Charlie Lindgren.

Capitals pass. Centers > wingers and McMichael is a great 200 foot center. He’ll develop into a solid 2c

Last year Kaliyev put up 28 points in 56 games. McMichael has 30 points through 170 games. LMFAOtears of joy

Don't care. Caps have Leonard, Miroshnichenko, Cristall, Suzdalev, Persson, and Dube coming up on the wings. Center depth is crucial in the NHL and McMichael has looked great this year and will only get better

I appreciate players with good 200ft games. We had one like that; Zach Aston-Reese. He was an analytics darling with some of the best defensive metrics of any forward for a few seasons, plays a nice gritty game, but couldn't produce. Kakko has reached that territory as well; dude is a beast on both ends of the ice but can't produce to save his life. McMichael is tracking in the same category of guys like this.

He's 23, so I'm not gonna cement his career right now, but he's not tracking towards a 2C. He's tracking towards a solid defensive bottom-six foward. Kaliyev, while not having a great start this year, is tracking towards at least being a solid middle-six forward. And aside from production, his 200ft game is not shabby.

I'm taking Kaliyev 10 times out of 10 over McMichael.

I'm glad you don't care. I'm commenting on the trade in this AGM, not the Caps pipeline. This is an AGM about the Kings, so nobody cares about the cape pipline here, but McMichael is in Zach Aston-Reese/Kappo Kakko territory. Good luck!

Well, the Caps pipeline directly affects this trade... hence why I mentioned it...

And McMichael is still younger than ZAR was in his NHL debut, that's not a great comparison. And Kakko has played 268 games, McMichael has played 120. Give him some time lol, this is his first full NHL season. He'll be fine

In a previous reply I cited the fact he's still 23 and I'm not ready to cement the type of player he is, but he's also not 21. Does he have room to grow? Sure, but to say (the other guy said this) that he's going to be a good 2C is sillier than me writing him off completely. He's a 2C right now because you have no other options, but to me, all signs point to a good 200ft player with mediocre production.
