just an idea, do the Bs flip Jake to someone making a cup push on the west if there's no contract in place before the deadline? and do they value a roster player back or trying to get into the draft in 2024?

Edmonton does not have the cap space.

Something along the lines of Debrusk/Zboril for Holloway/Broberg/Ceci or Kulak for cap purposes. Then flip Broberg/Ceci with a 1st for Hanifan. That would make some sense for all parties.

If they move JD it has to be for an equal player under contract/will sign long term or package for someone better.

Moving him for picks only leaves a huge hole in the top 6 in an already depth challenged roster.

IMO Bruins should keep Debrusk and extend him

not sure they go fo Hanifin (via trade or UFA) just based on where they likely want to slot in Lorhei ... if you sign Hanifin you have two 20+ min guys on the left so does Lorhei only play 15 mins a night for the next 7 years?

You play Lohrei on 3rd pair until he figures out how not to be liability in his own end and then you reevaluate.

I agree, i like Jake but the TDL is getting closer and they don't seem to have made any progress. i'd hate for it to spill into the offseason where he decides he doesn't like how it was handled and then takes a deal somewhere else. i'd sign him now personally and then focus on the center and D position in the offseason.

If he'd played better this year, I think they would go for an extension but now he's in that grey area where he could be worth anywhere from 4 to 7 million and there's a chance they can't agree on that number. I'd rather trade him for the asset and replace his projected 20 goals. Phil Kessel is still available!

Pasta signed at the last minute too - I think with a player of JDB's caliber you also feel a bit more comfortable letting it go until the offseason. He grew up in the organization and he won't be the first player off the board when FA opens. I believe he wants to return to Boston.

Phil Kessel lol he can't play a top-6 role at his age and doesn't play special teams either
