The Canes do not want Allen. He's not good, and the Canes don't want another 1B netminder. If they were going to go this route, Kahkonen and Fleury are better options anyway. You keep Jake Allen

It was reported all season that the Canes had interest in Allen, this trade can be done to any team looking for a 1B I just used the canes because they had Ryan Suzuki

Florida passes, Anton Lundell has way more value than that.

Hawks decline instantly. Dvorak is the definition of a cap dump at this point. Nobody is giving Montreal anything for him.

Remember how MTL charged a 1st round pick to take Monahan's contract? Now just think about that a little bit, and then think about Dvorak's contract and production. Dumping him would cost more than it cost to dump Monahan. Whether he bounces back and we can flip him down the road, or he is serviceable enough to be a stop gap and finish out his contract, is not your concern. If you need the cap hit gone, you pay for it. It's that simple. Same with Anderson and Gallagher and Armia. Anything other than paying to dump them, is (or should be) a pipe dream. Then again, I wouldn't put anything past Kent Hughes and his silver tongued trade negotiating skills.

I'd say during the season you'd be right. but in the offseason Hughes has already proven to be able to move unwanted players with one year left on their contracts AND still get something out of the deal (see Hoffman, Edmundson, Pitlick, etc.)

As for Dvorak, I think it's very similar to Armia. They aren't useless players, they're actually very serviceable bottom 6 guys, but are cleary overpaid.
But the reason I don't think Dvorak gets traded is that it's the 2nd season in a row that he's gotten season ending surgery. I don't see any team having interest in someone made of glass. and its not like MTL NEED to clear his cap, so no need to pay anyone to take him.

That's fine, too. If they don't need to move them, then they probably aren't going anywhere. But no one needs those players. "Serviceable" is subjective. They are stop gap players with boat anchor contracts, that no one is trading assets for or taking up cap space for. Especially not at full price. So, whether MTL "needs" to move their contracts, is irrelevant. If they WANT to move them, it's likely going to cost them. Also, i'd be willing to bet that Hughes would love to dip into free agency the next few summers and he also has some contracts coming due soon, both of which would create a "need" to move out cap.

But, like you said, he has shown an ability to move unwanted contracts at little to no cost, even convincing some teams that certain players are worth WAYYYY more than they actually are. Which is absolutely perplexing and brings me back to some speculation that I made after the Monahan trade the other day, that he somehow has dirt on everyone. lol
