Let me start by saying Sarros is still a very good goalie. That being said ABSOLUTLEY no way in the world would NSH get a package like that for him assuming this would be at the TDL with only 1yr left on his contract. Ullmark has out shined Sarros the last 3 yrs and his contract expires the same time, Bruins fans project Ullmark getting shipped out for a 1st and a mid to high range prospect. So if Sarros is going to get shipped out expect a 1st and a decent prospect but not a Clarke level prospect, maybe like a Spence+Kaliyev+1st but in absolutely no way would you get a 1st a 2nd a prospect like Clarke and a prospect like Kaliyev you're dreaming.

LA doesn't do Clarke for Saros 1-1 let alone adding a 1st, 2nd and young player.

He's quoting reports from last year's trade deadline that said that Trotz wanted two of Byfield, Clarke, Kaliyev, and a 1st or 2nd round pick (although both are added here which is ???).

Quote:
As far as the Kings go, it would likely take two of Quinton Byfield, Brandt Clarke or Arthur Kaliyev, the organization’s No. 1, 2 and 3 prospects, plus a first- or second-rounder. When I asked about why this deal fell through at last year’s trade deadline, I heard Nashville asked for both Byfield and Clarke.

Jumping on the bandwagon of other commentors, Clarke is clearly more valuable than Saros
I think Van would lower the pick in this type of trade, Raty is a fairly valuable prospect
I think the NYR would give up a 2nd for Novak, he's cooled off from his start to the year and dropped in value IMO

No dog in LAK-NSH fight, but I’d think Spence would be more realistic target over Clarke.

For Devils trade, Barrie is not the type of dman we seek, but price looks good.

The value was still off last season, but Saros is having his worst season in years and only another year on his contract has really put this outside of the same ballpark. You won't get a franchise defenseman for a season and a half of a currently struggling Saros.

Different situations for Ullmark and Saros. Ullmark has been replaced by Swayman, so while still a great goalie his replacement is already on the roster. Saros has no direct replacement and this would put Nashville in the basement of the standings. So Nashville has no real incentive to trade Saros other than something another team would consider an overpay. I think Spence could work in a package going back to Nashville, but I know that Clarke is their ideal target. Obviously this post was made with the best case scenario for a return which would be an overpay from a desperate LA team that wants to get an elite goalie from a team they're currently competing with for a playoff spot. I don't think the value is as far off as everyone thinks because if it was we wouldn't be hearing about it. If Clarke was off the table that would be the report.

The comparison between Saros and Ullmark makes sense, but the big difference is that since taking over for Rinne full-time, Saros plays 60+ games a season, while being on a much worse team than BOS. Ullmark, by comparison has not played more than 50 games in a season once in his NHL career. The fact that Saros plays as well as he does and has routinely been in the Vezina conversation for the last 3 years with this kind of workload separates them to some degree. If Saros had Swayman as a tandem partner, I'm sure he would also be putting up better numbers than Ullmark because his workload wouldn't be 80% of the season, but for the last 3 seasons Saros's backup has been Lankienen or Rittich. Also, FWIW Saros has had a better SV% in 3 of the 5 seasons they have both played more than 20 games (19-20 & 22-23 are the years Ullmark beat Saros). Saros might be having a down year, but he usually is putting up numbers that are equal too or better than Ullmark and doing it on a worse team.

I 100% agree with both of you that this is too much for NSH to ask for, coming from a NSH fan. That said, it has been confirmed that Trotz isn't shopping Saros, but is at least listening to offers. That said, Trotz isn't going to trade Saros unless he can get back someone who can develop into a either top pairing RD or a top 6 C as those are NSH's biggest needs right now, and goalies that are routinely in the Vezina conversation don't grow on trees. As it stands for NSH, the only way Saros gets moved to LA is if one of Byfield/Clarke are going the other way. The finer details on who is adding what and how much I'm not even going to try to think of. The only reason for that is because if the offer isn't too good for Trotz to turn down he is just going to resign Saros instead and NSH will run with the eventual tandem of Saros/Askarov when Askarov comes up after Lankinen's contract is up.

I completely disagree because if you ask 32 NHL GMs who has more value Saros or Clarke all 32 would say Saros. Upside and all every team would love both, but Saros can backstop a team that wants to compete for the cup. Clarke can't be a team's number 1 Dman right now because he's not even playing in the show full time. If Clarke was that good LA would've moved Roy and they'd be playing him. He's still growing as a player, so right now no he's not more valuable than Saros.

Clarke is off the table. So is Byfield. The report is that Saros will only be traded to LA if the Kings are willing to give up one of Byfield or Clarke, in addition to other assets. They're not.

So the report essentially says that Saros will not be traded to LA.

Ignoring the Clarke part cause I already answered on my view of that.
I agree Raty is valuable but my evaluation was Carrier is worth around a second and a B level prospect and Trenin is worth about a third which would elevate the value to a prospect closer to Raty.
The value for Novak was just based on the center market this year which seems to be a 1st for a good middle six center. His value is only elevated because of his incredibly low cap hit.

Clarke and Roy are not competing for a roster spot. Clarke and Spence are. If you healthy scratch or demote Spence to give his spot to Clarke, then Spence's trade value is all but destroyed.

Make no mistake, Clarke will be on the Kings right side next season and Spence will be playing for a different team.

The whole idea is far-fetched I won't deny that. Again, this is the ideal situation. I think this is the offer it would take to get Saros out of Nashville. If that happens then you trade everybody else.

I can fully understand your point of view on this topic from the NSH side of things, of course NSH is going to want a team to overpay for their #1 tender however if there is going to a team that is going to over pay for him it wont be the Kings. Maybe you could sucker EDM or Toronto into massively overpaying for him but outside of those two teams nobody else is going to do it.

Do you think the NSH-VCR trade would work in the off-season?

Both guys are UFAs so probably not. They'd either be resigned, ready to test free agency, or traded to another team

There might be something there for Fabbro, but I'm not sure if Nash will be moving on from him or Carrier or potentially both. If Van still wanted a RD in the offseason, and the Preds were able to get some kind of RD prospect they think could make the jump, then I could see Fabbro being the odd man out

I think VCR should sign Dante Fabbro in the offseason, if they're not willing to keep Tyler Myers.

I'd probably say Carrier isn't worth as much as what Tanev and Tanev has that asking price you just gave but, I could be wrong. We just value them differently, that happens
Novak's salary is low but, I thought the hype around him was based on his offense to start the season. He had a good season last year but, I don't see him netting this close to what Lindholm and Monahan got since they are more established players but, again I could be wrong

Carrier and Trenin UFAs in the off-season, so no I don't think it would work then either
