He’s had over 20mins atoi the past 12 seasons. But sure, bury him on your third pair why not.

TJ is Tyler Johnson, not TJ Brodie.

If that's the best offer they get...

But the retention would be a 5th at least... with the market the way it has been, I feel the Hawks will get more with retention.

You’d have to pay someone to take him at full price

Nobody said his stock is down, but the kid is NOT worth two 1sts. Cmon.

Even if they’re top 10 protected? This guy is NHL ready and could be in their lineup today if they wanted him there. Considering 70% of first rounders outside the top ten never play 100 games in the nhl, two first rounders isn’t unreasonable

Cowan is absolutely worth a first he’s leading the league in juniors for points, is he worth that whole package obviously not hence why I said flames decline

So for an additional 2nd and a 4th you wouldn't bring the kid they call ‘Cowboy’ to the saddledome??

Hold up... 70% of 11-32 1st rounders never play 100 NHL games? I'm gonna need to see a source for that one.

But no, Cowan is not worth two 1sts. Not today, anyway.

Sorry its inverse - 30%

My point remains. Cowan is a lock to be a top6 forward in the nhl and potential superstar. Plus they call him cowboy for christ sake - how is there not a deal to bring him to the saddledome?

Also, are you assuming Tanev is worth a 1st? That’s a stretch

1 - No, I'm not saying I think Tanev is worth a 1st, I'm saying Calgary is going to ask for a 1st for Tanev retained.

2 - A "lock" to be top 6 and potential superstar? Ehh... where'd you get that idea?

Not a lot of 18 yr old players get selected for canadas under 20 team. And not a lot of players make an nhl roster before the age of 20 (think you could see him called up during the playoffs this year). He’s also leading the OHL in ppg. None of this is exciting to you eh?

Unless TJ goes on a major heater, a 3rd for him half retained is a fair return. He's a 3rd liner on a playoff team.

I'm not 100% but I believe that trade return was changed.. I might be remembering another AGM but I thought it was a 6th and 7th

Did you change it to a 3rd? I thought it was a 6th and 7th? Maybe that's what I was basing it on a different AGM... a 3rd at 50% might get it done, a 3rd and a 5th for sure would.

I never said he's not an exciting prospect. A "lock" to be top 6 and potential superstar is laying it on rather thick. Starring in the OHL does not automatically mean can't miss star prospect. Remember Jeremy Bracco?

Cowan is a very good prospect, but let's not get crazy.

This particular ACGM has been a 3rd all along. But there was a Johnson to Tampa ACGM that had the return as a 6th and 7th.

Ha. No. Without retention probably a 4th. If less than that Hawks just keep him. But most likely Johnson gets moved half retained for a 3rd. Just a matter of where.

Im so confused, are you saying 6th and 7th isn't enough? Why keep him though if you’re tanking?

Yes, a 6th and a 7th isn't enough. Hawks wouldn't take that for Johnson. If that's the best offer, they just keep him and let him walk as a UFA. I highly doubt the Hawks don't receive a better offer though. Especially since they'd be willing to retain half on him.
