Sabres really don't need an undersized offensive defense.

I still don't see how this works for either team; I don't think the Avs and Sabres are good trade partners.

Avs have to add not Buffalo. Girard doesn't fit the Sabres need

For the Sabres fans who assume that Girard is an undersized offensive D-man and you "don't need him". Avs fans have known for years that his defense is what carries him. His fancy stats this year are better than Buffalo's top 3 d-men while not getting nearly the o-zone shelter that Dahlin, R Johnson and Power get. His PPG would be second on the Sabres. Girard is a top-4 dman on any team in the league, on a great contract and frankly I would rather have him that Mitts. I don't know what Buffalo's "Needs" are but it look like Defense is one of them.

CF% FF% OZS PPG
Girard 54.7 56.6 46.9 .47
Dahlin 53.6 55.2 59.6 .78
R Johnson 52.7 52.8 59. .19
Power 51.5 51.2 53.4 .35

Sabres are NOT doing that
And the Avs can’t fit Mitts under their Capmmovong forward,
so NEITHER side would want this

THANK YOU! The dumb narrative of Girard being one-dimensional needs to be permanently retired. He's a lot better than anyone who doesn't watch the Avs (and some Avs fans, to be sure) gives him credit for. That being said, Buffalo is set on the left side and the rumor of them shopping Mitts has been retracted.

That's cool, he's still small and left handed, playing for a better team, and corsi and Fenwick are so outdated you may as well throw in +/-

Small and left-handed? That’s it? It’s certainly easier to use dismissive snark than back up a thought with data, but when your team is about to miss the playoffs for, checks notes, the 13th straight year, I guess snark is all you have.

Yeah when your team is almost all nonphysical left handed d, adding another one doesn't help, therefore he is not what they are looking for. Unless you're arguing they give up on a 21 year old Power or they trade their 2C for a stop gap, both of which make no sense
