laugh Those pieces don't even get you Rasmus Andersson, Let alone adding Chris Tanev and you're at least another 1st round pick shy for both players.

Could just leave the goalie in the net
(If worried about empty net goals)

Leafs haters never want to see a deal work that'll make them better. That is absolutely fair value. Robertson is 21. Needs a change of scenery. Timmins has potential. He gets that. First adds decent value. Maybe mix in a third and that's a solid deal.

No that's just a really bad offer for a great defenseman the team doesn't want to move

They're going to be bottom feeders. Couple mid tier prospects and a first is not bad value.

That's not even close to a fair deal. At least a 1st and 2 2nds for Anderson, we already know he wants a 2nd and a prospect for tanev. So you've got the 1st, I'll give robertson the value of a 2nd. Samsonov has no value, and if markstrom is movedout chances are a goalie has to come back to make the salary work. Brodie might have some value, but not to the Flames. So Toronto is offering a 1st a 2nd, a 7th dman and 2 cap dumps, for a package that should be the equivalent of a 1st, 3 2nds and a prospect.

-Robertson is actually 22 and in the last year of his ELC. He needs a new deal and has an injury history longer than a CVS receipt. I don't think he's worthless, but the fact that you admit he needs a change of scenery should tell you that he's somewhat of a distressed asset. Timmins is 25 now so it's hard to see him as "potential" so much as "this is what he is" at his age. Brodie is a non-asset to a team like Calgary - if they're trading a pending UFA in Tanev, how much value are they going to put in another over-30 pending UFA who actually has a higher cap hit? And last, Samsonov is a borderline negative asset in this deal - if the Flames are trading Markstrom, it's because they believe Dustin Wolf is ready for prime time, not because they want to bring in a $3.55M goalie with an .879 SV%.

Put it another way: you can probably get Tanev with Robertson & a 1st - I'd bet that Calgary even retains for you with that package. But if you think that works, then you're assuming that Calgary would value Andersson, a 50-point two-way defenseman, as worth the pupu platter of Brodie/Samsonov/Timmins. Even if you add a future 1st in there, it's still a no. One of the easiest nos of Craig Conroy's career, I'd bet.

Wild probably take that deal, unless there's a 2nd rounder hiding out there for Maroon that I can't see at this point.
Nasvhille probably passes; we live in a world where Nic Deslauriers has been traded for a 3rd rounder and signed a multi-year deal. McCarron probably brings back a 3rd if Nashville moves him.

LOL, those pieces wouldn't even get Tanev. Probably is enough to get Calgary to take on cap dumps Brodie and Samsonov since both contracts expire this summer.
