I think that you're right that Ottawa might be scouting free-agents-to-be to start evaluating whether the Senators would be interested in signing them in the off-season, but why wouldn't that include Jake DeBrusk?

I don't think that Los Angeles would have much interest in trading Turcotte or LaFerriere.

DeBrusk will want to go to a contender like Edmonton and get paid.

He also isn't as needed by Ottawa as someone like Roy.

As of now the Sens have little cap next season. The only expiring contract is Tarasenko at 5m. Sanderson has signed for 7m raise and Pinto to resign.

We also have $5 million in dead cap coming off the books (Murray/Ryan/White/Del Zotto), Kubalik expiring, and the cap going up by $4 million.

Sens currently right at the cap at $83.5M. Add $4M for the cap increase, $87.5M.

        Subtract
        $5M Dead cap
        $5M Tarasenko
        $2.75M Forsberg (likely)
        $2.5M Kubalik
        $2M Brannstrom (likely)

        Add
        $7M Sanderson increase
$3M Pinto increase on bridge deal
        $1M Søgaard (Forsberg replacement)
        $1M Kleven (Brannstrom replacement)
        $1M Crookshank (Kubalik replacement)

Quick math says it gives them about $4M to replace Tarasenko which isn't bad at all for a middle 6 F.

Definitely a lot of things in the air though: one of Chabot/Chychrun likely dealt at the deadline or draft, Pinto contract could go a lot of ways, and they can NOT go into next season with Korpisalo/Søgaard unless Søgaard breaks out in a big way.
