Ain’t no way we are dealing Cowan for Jenner. Cowans a future T6 winger

He might be in a few years but we need to win this year or next and we need better face offs and we need toughness all of which Jenner adds so you have to lose to gain what you need.

Figured Brodie at 2.5 M allows TBL to still add another defense to help cover till or IF Sergachev gets back this season.

Why would it be obvoiously Cowan is a 1st round pick?
Could remove Cowan and add a 2024 1st round pick , it is pretty much better to have Cowan but whichever you want.

Jenner isn’t available but if he were it would take a first plus a top prospect to start. Kampf has negative value to the jackets as well

Are you not watching the media , Jenner is very available according to your GM lol,
That is a bit unrealistic expectation for a 3rd line center at 30 yeras old!

What universe are you living in? He's quoted as explicitly saying Jenner is not available: “Boone Jenner is not going anywhere “

The price before Jarmo got fired was probably Cowan + 1st, when it was at least nebulous. Now that Jenner, ownership, and Davidson have all expressed their intent to keep him in Columbus, it would take a truly insane offer (like Cowan and two first, plus) to pry him loose.

I think you're making the mistake of paying attention to Toronto media and not the quotes coming directly from the GM and the reports about the owner's view on Boone.

I'd genuinely rather throw Cowan into the lineup than trade him for Jenner.

Lili is better than Borgen. Not sure what made you want to trade for Borgen but I'd highly recommend you watch him. He's essentially Justin Holl.

Why breakup Benoit/McCabe. Arguably the best shutdown pair in the league right now. They have great chemistry and are built for the playoffs.

Also Brodie will be undervalued in a trade cause he's been **** this year. He's been back to his old self playing on the left, why not just keep him and play him as 2LD. If he goes back to his old self you just picked up a top 10 DFD for free.

If the Jackets declined this I genuinely think Davidson would follow Jarmo out the door.

I get keeping your captain and the core of the franchise but Cowan is 1st in the OHL in Points per Game, top 10 in +/1, top 40 in PIMs. He's literally the player that every team dreams about having. It's not a guarantee he can replicate it in the NHL but if he does (which the odds were high enough for him to go in the 1st round last year), you have a better version of Jenner for 10+ years.

-Gonna trust Jackets fans on this and agree that Jenner would need an overpay to be moved out of Columbus. A decent prospect plus an expensive bottom-6 C do not equal an overpay.

-Seattle probably accepts but I agree with the Leafs fan upthread that asks why you're doing this? I don't think there's a big enough difference between Borgen & Liljegren to give up the extra draft capital - I'd rather keep Lily for RD3 and use the picks somewhere else.

-I could see Tampa doing something like this without retention and giving up a lesser pick if they're trying to replace Sergachev from outside the organization. They've got $7.5M in LTIR space so they can do it - but I'd again argue that it doesn't make sense for a Leafs team in a playoff push to sacrifice depth.

-Same as the Lily/Borgen trade - this just has the Leafs giving up extra draft capital for a marginal, at best, upgrade. Neither of these guys is getting more than 12-13 minutes for you in a playoff game, so why waste a 5th rounder here?

-I think Philly hangs up on you for this one. Rifai is a warm body, and the best asset is a pick that's deferred a year. If the Flyers move Walker, they've got the room to retain, so I would argue they could conceivably push for a 1st or for a 2nd and a good prospect for Walker at $1.325M - the Leafs would get easily outbid here.

Good luck with that. This is why the leafs are always golfing early.

Success in the OHL is a very very long way from success in the NHL. How about we see what he does in the AHL before we start talking about him having a better career than a guy who's likely going to play 1000+ games and put up 500+ points. Players that end up with a career like that that were picked outside the top 10 are very uncommon and almost everyone picked in the first few rounds has impressive junior numbers at some point.
