Hawks aren't giving up a 3rd (or anything else) for Timmins.

Hawk fans don’t hate Timmins, they see him for what he is… a number 7 or 8 d-man who can provide some offence but is a disaster in his own end.

The Leafs acquired him in a swap off minor leaguers but now feel they can flip him for a 3rd, not happening. If Chicago wanted Timmins they will just wait until he hits the waiver wire again.

He's definitely going to be a full time NHLer very soon. He's still young and he wins his minutes, in a sheltered role. I know many teams have similar guys but Timmins has all the tools and a good coach can likely fix his deficiencies and what's left is a pretty good player. I see him as a very good 3rd pair guy in a year or two at the very least. He straightens up some of his in zone play and he could be a decent 2nd pair defenceman. Not a shutdown guy but a play driver puck moving guy. 2nd PP unit staple. I'd rather fire Keefe and get a good coach than trade Timmins

Pretty good assessment. My biggest issue with Timmins, aside from his defensive deficiencies, is that he can't stay healthy. Dude is made of glass. In his 5 seasons as a pro, has never come close to playing a full slate of games. He's not of much use if he's re-habbing more than he's playing. And the things he's best at the Hawks don't really need. He wouldn't get PP time with Jones and Korchinski already locked in for the Hawks. And once DelMastro is NHL ready, Hawks will have at least one strong, puck moving D on all 3 pairs. And I'm not even factoring in Sam Rinzell, a '22 1st round RD with really good offensive abilities.

Yeah. "Hate" is way too strong of a word. But a 3rd is not gonna happen, especially when they can just snag him for free, if they actually have any interest. The real question is, why do TOR fans hate him so much that he is in almost every TOR ACGM?

It was so unfortunate he got hurt at the beginning of the season. And now mono. He just can't catch a break. Still though, trading him is dumb. He's cheap and if the Leafs had a competent coach, he would be getting more time. He's going to be a fixture next season when they have a better coach (hopefully)
