I find it very strange when people expect more than 1 low pick for their bottom-of-roster fodder. I'd consider Kastelic for a single 6th rounder, nothing more.

      1. Then why is MTL involved if they arent getting the player in question?
      2. This trade only made sense when Kubalik was going to a 3rd party with MTL RS. But looking over it now its unclear what happened to Kubalik as there's no trade or explanation.

In either scenario this portion of the trade would appear to be unfinished given the new information your brought to light

Nobody wants him so we give him to the Habs since they like reclamation projects

      Hard Sell
On the one hand he and Slaf would join Xhekaj as the Czech/Slovak speakers in MTL.
We seen how tight Slaf and Xhekaj got so maybe it helps Kubalik rebound here i guess.
But overall i think our space for Reclamation projects is full
Far as forwards go we need Centers aged 22-25 who are decent players worth gambling on like a Krebs in BUF, Lundestrom in ANA or Turcotte in LAK
