That is a drastic overpayment for Compher.

Did you mistake Compher with Copp? Compher's fine. Copp's the perfect 2C if you're going to make that kind of payment to Detroit

But he's played really well, is a right-handed C (important), and has 4 seasons of prime years locked up. That's worth a LOT.

Compher's the better fit for Carolina due to him being right-handed.

Does that really matter? Copp's production is usually much better than Comphers (this year aside). Necas and Jarvis both take faceoffs anyway.

Their faceoff numbers have been total dogs***, though, especially Necas's. That's partly why names like Giroux have been scattered around a bit even though he isn't likely to waive his NMC.

I don't know if that is necessarily the case. The fear with Compher was that his production wouldn't translate outside of the Colorado juggernaut. It pretty clearly has. That's why I think a pickup is less risky now.

Detroit passes, Compher has been playing great for us, I don't see him waiving anytime soon.

Even though this and the Copp trades I would consider over pays, I don't see either player going anywhere. Their term is fine for our timeline. Trading them would makes our team worse and I don't think we are in the business of that right now. I could see us selling the pending UFAs though. We well need Compher and Copp to help insulate the young guys coming up.
