As a Caps fan I like it because that's a lot for Norris who is overrated, but you should use that package for something else like Mittdlestat.

Grundstrom is out on LTIR right now and is expected to miss some time. The Kings likely can't afford to qualify him this summer, so I think they'd be all about this deal.

I don’t see the value in Norris. Hurt a lot, costs a lot, and isnt Rod type center

If I'm OTT, I'd take the Norris deal but not the Brannstrom deal. I really like Brannstrom and his advanced stats for a 3LD

He is... but the problem is right now he is not the same player as before his injury... That value is for pre-injury Norris, that trade is gambling on him getting back into form

He doesn't have this type of value right now

It's an easy answer. He's very young (doesn't turn 25 until May), has offensive skill, is fully termed for 6 more seasons, and a buy-low candidate.

Also, because of how young he is, he's a very good bet to turn around.

I could be wrong, but I believe that he is projected to return after the deadline. The Canes can play Lemieux on the 4th line until Grundstrom's ready.

Yeah, it can take a while before getting over injuries. He scored 47 goals in 91 games before his injury and also had great defensive metrics in his rookie season facing top competition. It's a good gamble but don't think it would cost that much as of right now.

Also good point of being a buy-low candidate, which helps Ottawa being more patient in his case.

The team hasn't released any details about expected recovery time. It's a lower body injury with no timetable. He's eligible to return from LTIR as soon as March 5.

The trade technically can be done without including Bunting. The Canes have $6.6M in deadline space, meaning that they technically only need to clear Drury's $925K off of the roster and add another prospect of your choosing to complete the trade legally.

I can understand that. 7.95 million is a lot of cap for a gamble. If the Sens weren’t interested in kk we would need to find a home for him. We can’t afford 2 buy low, high AAVs centers. Our cap is really tight next season without moving KK, even with moving Bunting.

Norris is weird because you can't really know if you're trading for a 25 year old 40 goal scorer, or whatever it is that he's been this year. Sens definitely take this deal though. I think Carolina can easily come out of this happy because I like Norris' chance to bounce back. but if Staios wants to make his mark on the team, this would be the way

I vote ‘yes’ on both Ottawa deals , in fact I think it is an overpay for Norris….. Stutzle, Pinto, Greig, Drury / Kastelic down the middle, pretty nice group.
Morrow could be the wild card here, he has the potential to be another Brock Faber find. Not a fan of Bunting but he contributes , Ottawa can use a PITA forward.

IF OTT did not have a clear major need they might think about accept this, but nothing here helps them now with what they need.

OTT would decline this.
