Why does everyone drop Simashev? That is just silly.

There's a lot here i take issue with, but for starters... how have Wood/Moore not dropped at all? And either Brindley/Nadeau moved up into the 1st round ATLEAST

Cowan's better

No he’s not.

Heidt is literally a better goal scorer, better point producer, and done it consistently for back to back seasons. He was just shy of 100 pts last year and very likely breaks that mark THIS year. Cowan will be lucky to hit 90. Yes he missed some time due to injury, so maaaaybe he hits that mark if he stayed healthy. But Heidt will have done it in two consecutive seasons to Cowan's possible one, despite being the same age.

Cowan: OHL
22-23
GP - 68
G - 20
A - 33
P - 53

23-24
GP - 42

A - 48
P - 75

Heidt: WHL
22-23
GP - 68
G - 25
A - 72
P - 97

23-24
GP - 54
G - 31
A - 64
P - 95

Cowan has a similar PPG pace while being the prime PK option and can win the puck out of any corner

If Heidt was really better, he would have made Team Canada over Cowan

Similar PPG this year, only. Again, Heidt did it last year too.

As for the WJC, how did that work out for them? Everyone and their mother has basically said omitting Heidt was stupid. That was easily the biggest snub of them all. He SHOULD of been on that roster. Cowan had a decent WJC, but Heidt is likely more productive there than Cowan, which probably solves some of their scoring issues. They clearly needed a better playmaking scorer on that team. And Heidt is much better than Cowan in that regard.

They CHOSE to go with size and physicality instead of scoring depth and skill, and it basically cost them the WJC. Not saying they win, either. But, that outcome is probably a lot less drastic.

Yeah, in Cowan's first full OHL season...

And? Last time I checked, it's the scouts and Canada's GM making the decision, not the average fan...

And Cowan's on the smaller size... His big thing is that he could go anywhere in the lineup... Which is what he brought... If Heidt was a better player rn, he would have made it over Cowan
