Calgary might like Lysell, but he's a project not worth much. Odds are it would be 1st, Lohrei, Lysell, 3rd

You are forgetting that Calgary doesn’t have a ton of leverage here. Everyone knows that Hanafin is not going to re-sign. They could be stubborn and lose him for nothing. But I think if they get a 1st and a good prospect. They will take it. You wouldn’t get an offer of a 1st and 2 good prospects.

I suggest Lohrei and bruins fans say no chance. Bruins fans offer Lysell who's pretty much the same tier of prospect. Hanifan makes Lohrei expendable. Hanifan doesn't help replace DeBrusk who's probably gone in the off season where Lysell could.

That's what I'm expecting for Hanifan, a first and good prospect, and probably another player to make the cap work or another pick for retention.

true, but with about 5-10 teams linked to Hanafin (FLA, COL, BOS, TOR, TBL, ARI, DET off the top of my head), someone will offer more than that

Maybe, Lysell probably has a higher upside. Hard to compare the 2 positions. Lysell is also 3 years younger.

I guess Coronato isn’t worth much now either? What’s the rationale? Just curious, because they have similar size / shot / speed talent level. I understand not wanting to add another undersized forward, but that’s different than Lysell having limited value,

What in his play at Providence this year makes you believe he’s not worth much? Former first round pick playing a team oriented game and scoring consistently at the AHL level. Plus skating. Plus edges. Plus shot.

I’d prefer to keep him and give him a shot at the RW on the second or third line

Yeah I don’t understand why Boston fans would be hesitant on dealing Lohrei for Hanafin, if the goal is to sign him. Top 4 would be solidified for the next 4 years minimum and he’s not going to sit in Providence that long waiting to play. He’d be wasted on the 3rd pairing. If you can deal him for a signed Hanafin and basically make it close to a one for one, pull the trigger.

Given the time of the trade deadline the actually retention wouldn’t cost 1.5 million. So the retention doesn’t cost SJ anything important. And Gryz is a really good top 4 D that can help SJ not be completely embarrassing while they rebuild if they want.

He’s a rental though, why trade a rental for a rental, especially a D which San Jose already has too much of
