LA is still in the race, And even if Roy were available. That offer doesn't get him out of LA.

Even if they are still in the race, there is still an incentive to trade him at the deadline. It's pretty much a given that he's gone after this season. They have Clarke and Spence, who are ready now. They can use the acquired assets to add to a position of need (Saros).

If they were to trade Roy, no doubt it would be to an Eastern Conference team. The value wouldn't be much more than what was offered in this trade, which is pretty standard for any rental acquired at the deadline. Not many teams in the East (if any) need a RHD, either. This makes LA-TOR perfect trade partners.

Hometown Detroit needs RHD, We basically only have Seider long term for right now. And there's a much greater chance of him coming home to Detroit then signing with any canadian team.
