Detroit literally has so many wingers that we've got kids buried in the minors rejecting contract extensions because they can't get an NHL opportunity.

I feel like they would tbh. Would it be the smartest idea? Probably not but this team isn't going to be competitive for like 5 years and outside of Nelson. Pelech and Pulock are the only trade chips with real value

I don’t think so. Players don’t just ask for the NTC clauses for the sake of it. They have families and LI is an awesome place to live and settle down

Pelech is definitely worth that package in a trade. But no idea how Tampa affords him going forward after this season. Especially if they want to re-sign Stamkos.

Nelson would be a nice get, I just don't see them moving Ritchie for a 2c in their 30s not names Crosby.

they'd still have the NTC on their new team. yeah they love the island, but when it becomes clear that they can't win here....?

i think it's a reach, but eating $$ on nelson AND taking back johansen would make things tempting, no?

Lol what? I’m saying they wouldn’t waive their NTC to leave Long Island….obviously the NTC doesn’t just go away

I see why you say that. But it is realistically what you would need to give up for a 30 goal scorer at 3 mil

Fair enough. I guess the question is:

Do Pelech and Pulock want to compete or stay where they are comfortable and already established

i know what you're saying. and i'm saying that the NTC travels with them so if the isles are a sinking ship, they might be tempted to jump ship somewhere else where they will also retain the ability to move when/where they want.

guys waive NTCs all the time.

Well we all saw Krug use his NTC to avoid going to Philly and now Philly is the better team than the Blues haha

I think cup chasing makes more sense when you only have like a year or two left on the contract

Look above this one….Krug literally didn’t waive for Philly who is the better team

also, NTC’s are tricky because they usually lower the return for the player

philly is the better team now. but last summer everyone thought they'd be awful. krug didn't wanna go to philly because he thought they'd be bad. i'm sending pelech and pulock to contenders in this dream scenario. if i wanted the best return i'm sure ottawa would pony up big time for pulock. but i'm also pretty sure he'd veto that deal.

Kane to NY, Giroux to Florida…. If teams find out they will only go to certain places, you can only send them there or keep them
