Seeing as Yakupov was a UFA and we could have gotten him for free if we made an offer you are really just trading from Mackinnon, and for a Decent center but playing 3rd C you are paying 2 top 6 W and a top 4 D and 2 1sts and a second.... Unless you are an avs fan, completely not worth it.

Awful and not worth trade. It's too much to give up unnecessarility. Our D would become weaker cause Dumoulin today is much better than Pouliot. I don't see Pouliot ready to play in NHL yet. For now, he's a bust player.

Too much to give up? A bottom-4 defenseman, top-9 forward, bottom-six forward + late round picks for MacKinnion???

PIT walks away smiling through their teeth

The point is we don't need him. We have the best center and player of the league and a top 10 or maybe a top 5 player as the 2nd line center. Why we should pay so much for Mackinnon to put him as a 3rd line center!?!? It makes no sense at all. I'd just make trade for him involving Kessel or Hornqvist to put him as a RW to play alongside Malkin. This could be a possibility. But it's something to think about.
