Murphy 50% retained is worth a 1st round pick on his own. Taking Ceci back is going to require a little top up.

Also not sure Murphy would waive for a Canadian based team however, his dad is a Canadian so who knows.

I am starting to lean more toward moving Murphy now if we can. Outside of him and his wife having a baby due in June, I see no other reason not to move him. Bedard's leadership qualities are starting to show, and Jones, Fliggy, and Dicky are all holding things down pretty well. If the offer brings back a 1st plus and the team offering isn't on his 10 team no trade list, KD should pull the trigger.

However, this isn't enough, especially with the retention in there. I consider Ceci a borderline cap dump and not a positive asset. But maybe KD thinks of him differently. Either way, with the retention included, a single 1st won't be enough. You'll have to include another decent piece, i'm not sure what, but this ain't it.

Yes. And at least one professional scouting group agrees:

    Connor Murphy
Defending detail ranges. He's around the play but his body positioning / ability to contain opponents and direct them away from his net is average.
Some bump / push back physically. Also willing to block shots.
Works / competes to the best of his ability . A bottom pairing option on most teams in the NHL

That's an overpay for Guentzel also. I'd rather have a natural RW, as Edmonton already has 3 very good LW options for the top-6: Nugent-Hopkins, Kane and McLeod.
