Hanifin trade starts with Holloway and a 1st and goes from there. Similar to the Leafs I don't think the Oilers have the pipeline or pieces they'd be willing to move to make a deal for Hanifin. Tanev as a target retained would be a 1st from the Oilers.

Take anything that Frank says with a Grain of Salt

Oilers would have to pay a premium to make a trade with CGY, so this offer is much closer to getting you Tanev 50% retained than it is Hanifin with no retention. Oilers would have to offer the equivalent of TWO 1st Rounds Picks for Hanifin = 1st + 2nd + Holloway + Broberg + Kulak and he won’t re-sign in EDM so would be a pure rental

Hanifin to EDM just ain’t happening

The rumors a 2nd plus for tanev, Conroy is looking for a 1st or something that adds up to that value.

The Canes do like to bargain hunt, and I could see kulak as a target with term, but doubt they’d use roster and cap space to bring back Foegele when they really need someone to score in their top 6.

Ok the trade above is way off but you're delusional if you think a 1st and Holloway is an opening offer for Hanafin as a UFA. He's a middling D on most teams, Good not great. You can keep him for the death march if that's your value.

Well we likely don't have to wait long to find out who's wrong. Let's check back in 9 days to compare notes. I'm big enough to own it if you end up correct.

What are you talking about lol. You're either Trolling or don’t know anything about Hanifin or what makes a good NHL Defensemen…

Hanifin is 9th on Goals Scored and 26th in Points for ALL Defensemen. He plays 25mins/night and in all situations, including the PP and PK. I mean give your head a shake with that comment 🫨

You think a crappy Late Round 1st RD Pick that may not even become an NHL Asset/Player and a very underwhelming and under performing Holloway, who is no longer waivers exempt next season is anywhere close to what gets the conversation started for Hanifin!?

Holloway’s heading towards becoming the next Yakopov, Yamamoto or Puljujarvi and hasn’t even produced as much as those 3 did when they first joined the Oilers

I'm on about him getting traded by the deadline and what the value is. I don't think Hanifin gets a first + but If it happens I'll take my lumps.

All of the Hanifin stuff you say is nice but he's a UFA in July. If he had term I'd have a different opinion. Moving on

I shouldn't even engage in your Holloway comparison. It's ridiculous but Yakapov... get real man.

It’s real, Holloway sucks on the Oilers and isn’t living up to his draft pedigree or expectations whatsoever

It’s the Trade Deadline and that’s what you do with Pending UFA’s who won’t extend = You Trade them for a haul. This happens every year man and it starts with a 1st + Top Prospect, which guys like Holloway & Broberg no longer meet the criteria to be considered “Top Prospects”

Ohhh boy. It's crazy how much better a younger, less costly Hanifin has been than Hampus Lindholm in his 2021-22 season and the trade there was a 1st, a young player, two 2nds in a year where 10 - 12 notable d men were moved around the deadline.
