Trade Galchenyuk and Jordie Benn for Draisaitl and signing Vanek

Created by: Willian_Cardoso
Team: 2017-18 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 15, 2017
Published: Jul. 16, 2017
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Canadiens need a real top center and although Draisaitl played as a LW for the Oilers, he's original position is center. The trade makes sense cause Oilers need to avoid cap issues for the future. McDavid 12M/year contract after next season will hurt Oilers. Just look at the Hawks example with the Kane and Toews contracts over 10M/year.

Vanek sign also makes sense, cause Canadiens needs a top 6 winger who can score about 20 goals per season. Besides, Habs is a young team on the offense and Vanek also brings experience to them.

Finally, Plakanec trade to Pens, which needs a 3rd center, is better than buy out his contract and gain nothing. Even retaining half of his contract the trade worths to be make, in my opinion.

He played right wing haha but he drove his own line for a while and did a damn good job. I can see why the habs want him. I mean it is an interesting trade but I just don't think itd go through

Not sure about the conditional picks

I would swap Benn for Davidson. Remove Waked and add a second round pick from Chicago to make the deal fair.

Also, I doubt Oilers will let Draisaitl go for Galchenyuk because he's only on a 3 year deal which leads to unrestricted free agency. That's just my thoughts.

I thought that Maroon had played as RW. Thanks. Sticking Out Tongue

I don't think it'll happen either. But if I was Habs GM, I'd try to make it happen anyway. But if I failed, I'd try to trade for Trocheck from Panthers as a second option. But no Galchenyuk involved in this case.

Davidson was an Oilers player last season. It'd be weird and maybe no sense at all Oilers bring him back less than one year later. Besides, Benn is a solid d-man and would bring experience to Oilers young defense.

I don't think Galchenyuk's contract lenght would be a problem. They could re-sign him on his last year contract, if they want to.

    Thank you for your opinion.
