Jarnkrok has a no move i think and hes still injured
and we will need TJ in the playoffs, hes rock solid on left side (so not with Reilly, cause that gives me nightmares)
This package seems steep imo, but to be fair I dont know enough about those Seatle players.

It is steep and is probably a bit much. But no reason for Seattle to trade him this year with an extra year left on his deal. A bit of an overpayment to get the RHD we need with term.
We are probably playing Florida. Brodie gets exploited against fast hard forechecking teams and did not look good against them last year at all.

This move doesn't make us better now or in the long-run.

all good points. but I do not remember who TJ was paired with during that run..was he on his left or right side and was he with Reilly..that pair is a no go (definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result - Keefe should have his brain scanned lol - or maybe hes trying to prove a point with management?)

Brodie is better than Borgen. This obsession with the fan base thinking that unloading Brodie in a trade is going to make the team better is a good representation of how most people that watch the game don’t understand how important usage/deployment is. Brodie objectively is thrown into the most difficult situations on this team, and maybe his game has taken a step back this year, sure. But there’s absolutely no reason to believe that someone like Will Borgen can assume that role and outperform Brodie RIGHT NOW.

And that’s nothing against Borgen. He and Reilly would make a good pair. But it would be useless if you don’t have Brodie; someone who can take on tougher matchups so Reilly-X can succeed (like Rielly-Schenn/Lybushkin in playoffs).

Gourde is an excellent addition, but his cap hit is a little high for what he’s going to bring imo. And considering you pretty much have to give up Bordie and Jarnkrok just to even the cap out. It’s a lateral move at best.

I’m fine with giving up Robertson. I personally don’t see him having a strong future in Toronto. Minten, however, I can see being our 3rd centre for next season, and the next10 after that. Although I don’t see him being a legit top-6 centre in his career, I like the long-term security he gives the team at a position of importance. It’ll be nice to never have to worry about finding a 3C, which has probably been our most over-turned position in the last several years.

well put.
I love Brodie on 2nd unit left side as weve seen lately, and I agree he is solid (high IQ) even if he seems to sometimes scramble (maybe due to foot speed declining)
Hes just asked to do to much because our defence is thin.
Minten, although named capt, didnt impress during world juniors, im not sure hes gonna much more than a Nick Bugstad (im sure i spelled that wrong but too lazy to look it up)
I dont think Borgen is a 1st d pair (maybe Larsson? who knows...personally I like Gudbranson in Columbus as his D partner..but im not gods gift to talent evaluation
