I would target backstrom like you did on your previous post. Cost less money and I believe is a better centre and would be a HUGE add to your team

That's terrible for the Flyers. They need a younger 1-2 center if they are trading Giroux. Also they have plenty of goalie prospects who are better than Lindgren. Davidson is just another Brandon Manning that the Flyers don't need.

It's a terrible trade for Mtl as well. Look at 5vs5 stats, Giroux is good but he's not at pair with Pacioretty. I understand the quest for the prodigal 1C, but trading away Patches in the process weakens the team.

Yeah, honestly landing Backstrom would be a dream come true at almost any cost. I don't know what the atmosphere is like in Washington, with the playoff disappointments, but I don't think fingers are really being pointed at Backstrom. They'd be crazy to trade him away.
