Carrier gets a 2nd in '24 all by his lonesome. Taking cap back and sending an additional pick increases the value required to complete the transaction. Watering it down does nothing for Nashville.

Well why make stupid comments like that? Like sure the blues trade Edmonton could give a little bit more but every other trade is a complete rip off for Edmonton and idk how you could think otherwise.

For me, personally, I agree the third trade would be a ripoff. But the market supposedly says it is not, if only because, somehow, a lot of folks think Dowd could fetch a 1st, which probably came from Caps land. While I find that whacked out and would rather have McLeod than Dowd, there's a solid chance the Caps get the offer they want from somewhere else.

But okay, maybe not the third one. The other two are instant no's. At least they should be.

Carrier isn’t an upgrade over Ceci defensively and is also a lot smaller with that being said Edmonton has enough puck moving defensemen already and paying 2nd a 3rd for a downgrade just doesn’t make any sense.

That's a no for the blues. Bourgoult is a winger prospect which is something we have a lot of and isn't having the best year in his 2nd AHL season.

Heh. Calling Carrier a "puck moving Dman" makes me think you don't watch him. He's basically a 2nd line Jared Spurgeon.

Ceci is a 3rd pairing guy being forced to play on the top pairing and skating by okay because the forwards he's always out there with are insane. He has the worst xG share on the Oilers defense (including Broberg) and is the Dman who watches the Oilers fare best when he's not on the ice. And he has another year. And you've deferred the 2nd three drafts away. And the 3rd is pushed two drafts away.

I would hope like hell Nashville did something this overtly dumb, but alas, they presumably will not.

wtf are u talking about u can’t be serious lmao Jared Spurgeon is a great puck moving defensemen and ur gonna compare carrier to him after insisting carrier isn’t a puck moving defensemen just proves you have literally zero clue about talking about lmao.

Calling Ceci a 3rd pairing defencemen is an extremely dumb argument since he has played in the top 4 on every team he’s played for but hey I guess you know more than all these NHL Coaches why haven’t you become one yet?

Dude. Both Spurgeon and Carrier are more known for defending aggressively despite their size. Neither is famous for puck moving.

And no, Ceci has NOT played top 4 at every stop. But allow me to clarify: I'm saying he's a 3rd pairing caliber DMan. Not that he plays third pairing in Edmonton.

Look, don't get all huffy with me because I don't bow down to your wild claims.

Ceci played in the top 4 on every single team that’s a fact I know you may not like facts but it is lol.

There was literally an article on Sportsnet about how Jared Spurgeon is one of the best puck moving defensemen in the league and ur gonna sit here and tell me he’s not known for puck moving haha you actually have no idea what ur talking about

False. He played 3rd pairing toward the end of his Ottawa time. He played 3rd pairing about 1/3 of his Toronto season. He played 3rd pairing a little more than 1/3 of his Pittsburgh season.

Why are we doing this, man?

Link?

This one is a couple years old, but there's seven different top 20 charts for various puck movement categories. Spurgeon's name appears on these charts all of once. In one of seven categores, with 140 open spots available to take. One.

tears of joy

Goldman is a Dom Jr. hack who doesn't even understands the stuff she peddles. And because Spurgeon ranks high on a couple super specific niche categories does not = he's a "top puck moving DMan".

Good grief. Do you not see how far you've carried the goalposts away from the original topic?
