Description
Steve Staios off to a rough start as Ottawa's GM.

Only saving grace is the difference in Tarasenko's trade protection versus Chychrun's.

With Tarasenko having a Full NTC versus Chychrun having a 10 team No-Trade list.

But even then ...

If I were as helpless as Steve Staios and I had to move Chychrun for two 2nds, it would be to Washington.

Compared to most fanbases. my experience of interacting with Caps Fans in AGM has been a positive one for the most part ...

I don't understand why fans are freaking out about this. If he was only willing to go to one team, then you are going to get a very poor return. That will not be the case with other players that don't have such limited restrictions. Contact is everything.

Chychrun is getting a haul lol. At least a 1st and solid prospect (Gulayev is what im thinking)

Maybe NJD and Casey + 2nd + 3rd? idk im spitballing, but relax I promise itll be okay. Tarasenko was an anomaly

Capitals do that, but the issue for them then becomes the MASSIVE overstocked reserves of Defensemen they have. If they do this then they have to get rid of Jensen AND TVR

The trade was awful, but that's why GMs should not give NTC/NMC like candy. By all rights he should have brought back more than Sean Monahan. I say that without hubris, I really like both players.

I think Chychrun brings back a first but a late one and not much more. I've been pretty consistent about this because 1) the Sens have unfortunately already set a ceiling for what they will get for Chychrun because they traded to get him and 2) he's not played particularly well this season. Quite literally DeBrincat pt 2.

At this point he is what he is, a good 3/4d on a contender who you would get for two playoff runs but who's reputation (honestly just from all the talking people have done about him the last 3ish years) is a bit higher than his actual results.

Caps give you a late first they get from a contender in another deal -- certainly not one of their own -- and a 3rd.

I'd rather have Marino since Nemec and Hamilton are in the right side
