Staios needs to knock the Chychrun deal out of the ballpark.

I would rather give him 8 x 8 and keep him than trade him for the 27th overall pick and pieces like Timmins and Robertson or equivalent

not saying they should or will but anyone with term is going to cost assets we don't have. you could also extend Toffoli as he'd be a good fit next year too

Bruins aren't in position to waste assets for players who will leave; if anything, they should be trading their pending UFAs.

Im fully expecting a play for Elias Lindholm and an extension. I’m just curious what the cost will be.

There is a deal in there between these three teams that is mostly players at the NHL level and retention based

Brad Marchand is how old? The bruins prospect pool is meh, the core isn’t particularly young. I’d argue this is exactly when to go in if you can

They aren't winning this year, they have too many issues and holes in the lineup. They gotta try next season with the cap space they got this summer. Maybe it's over anyway (at least with Marchand/old core).

The argument is with a significant acquisition in free agency and the emergence of a few young players, they’d be better off saving the first round pick to be available for next years trade deadline

Every trade would have been player for player. Maybe add some supplemental picks or prospects to fill void

True. The term on signing UFAs always get tricky. People like rentals bc you can get the good year dirt cheap and you keep flexibility in terms of cap long term

Everything is tricky. Trading for rentals. Signing free agents. There are trade offs with every decision. I can understand the thought process of just waiting especially with how things are playing out in Vancouver,

If it’s more player for player, I could see one of the following deals

1. Ullmark, DeBrusk, and 3.5M in retention for Elias Lindholm, Akira Schmid, and a 2nd round pick in 2025 from Jersey

Toffoli and DeBrusk with 3.5M in retention goes to Vancouver. Ullmark to Jersey

2. Linus Ullmark and Jake DeBrusk to LA for Pierre Luc Dubois and David Rittich

I’d prefer the first deal personally, but I think they are going to stand pat. Maybe one rental
