Making the trades for Burns Karlsson Meier and Hertl more fair

Created by: sensonfire
Team: 2023-24 San Jose Sharks
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 10, 2024
Published: Mar. 10, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
1. Brent Burns

San Jose gets Carolina's 1st for 2023 in addition to what they got.

2. Erik Karlsson

San Jose gets two 2nds from Pittsburgh in addition to what they got and keeps Hamaliuk + their 2026 3rd.

3. Timo Meier

Simplify it.

Timo Meier for Shakir Mukhamadullin + New Jersey's 1st for 2023

If San Jose needs to take Johnsson AND retain on Meier, they get a 2nd that has a slight chance of turning into a 1st as well (i.e. whether the Devils made the ECF).

4. Tomas Hertl

A Jack Eichel-lite return, especially if there's retention on Hertl.

Hatakka was a throw-in on Meier deal…but you know what? We’re gonna keep him. He has looked pretty good thus far.

I think the simplified Meier deal would have been Holtz + pick.

Honestly for me just no retention and no 3rds going the other way

Would’ve loved holtz. Zetterlund is a solid piece and hopefully Musty and Muk pan out

                  Love Zettertank.

There was a period where he was on Hischier’s line and they were jiving, and many Devils fans thought he was going to be part of future.

Yeah he’s on pace for 20 goals on the sharks which is about 90 goals on any contending team so that’s cool too!

I think the simplified Meier deal would have been Holtz + pick.

I was the only one on here saying Meier for Holtz and the 23 1st.

Everyone else wanted what felt like both Hughes brothers or a 7th rounder in 26.

I think a fair Hertl trade would have been not to.

Since he committed to the team, but apparently wanted out after we signed and overpaid him. Then he goes and screws us.
I don't know who to be more upset with, Hertl or Grier. The lack of transparency on the truth makes me hate them both.
