Sorry, but you cannot describe a guy who's had 100 points once and only gone over 78 twice in 11 seasons as a "100+ point winger". And like I said, they'll wait four years for the 1st. To top it all off, the main piece coming back was a hug flop and a main reason they did not go anywhere near winning now.

I guess you have forgotten any questionable trades the Blues have done in their history, while chasing the Stanley Cup dream.

Because you know it's a fact, every Cup contender does it.

Short term "Win", long term loss.

Except it was not a short term win at all. If you think that was some great trade, I don't know what else to tell ya. It was bad in all terms.

On paper it was a short term win.

Articles written at the time were mostly positive. believing Huberdeau was still in his late prime but knowing his regression would happen about half way thru the 8 years, instead the regression hit in year 1 and NOBODY would have predicted it.

It's like Trev signing Nylander to 8 years after his most impressive season, imagine next Willy totals decreases by more than half.

1 - Heh. On paper, beforehand is not where or when one decides such things.

2 - Not sure how this factors in, what writers write on day one is also not a relevant criteria for judging trades. And not to toot my horn, but I called it a bad deal when it happened. Lots of people ripped me to shreds. None of us decided who won the trade in the present tense. Because won is past tense. If you think that's a great Tre trade given the gift of hindsight, I suppose we just disagree and that's that.

You are still missing the fact the trade was forced by Tkachuck, he filed for arbitration which would have awarded him a 1 year contract which would have lead him to UFA.

So removing an unhappy player, who was in a lame duck season, which would have been a big distraction in the media and toxic in the locker room, while getting assets back which were positive was a win.

A better trade than when Gilmour forced the Blues into a trade to go to the Flames, but I'm sure you have wiped that memory from your mind.

A better trade than that Gilmour trade is a very low bar to hurdle. And no, it haunts me to this day. Just thought about it the other night when trying to think of the worst Blues trades.

But at least M. Bullard was coming off a 100+ point season when he got to the Blues....huh that story sounds eerily similar.

You're reaching, bud. The Blues also gave away Hunter, who'd averaged 38 goals and a hair under PPG the prior three seasons, in the deal.

Edmonton got a 20-goal* scorer and a cheaper buyout, which was the point. The fact that Lucic served out his contract was a negative, not a positive. He wasn't worth more than league minimum at any time while in Calgary.

The 4.1M in cap savings Edmonton got went towards signing Zach Hyman. This trade was a HUGE win for Edmonton.
