What will an extension for Shane Pinto look like

Created by: sensonfire
Team: 2024-25 Ottawa Senators
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 20, 2024
Published: Mar. 20, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Talking about trading Pinto is a waste of time because it's not going to happen.

So, let's talk about how much Ottawa will need to pay Pinto when they sign him to an extension.

It would be a more productive use of our time because it's a more worthy topic of discussion.

Will it be a long-term extension ?

A bridge deal ?

Will Pinto be a RFA or a UFA at the end of it ?

I'll get the ball rolling and say Pinto will be signed to 5 million x 8.

With the way the cap is moving and how highly I value Pinto, I would say 8 years probably looks like 7x8 because it will be his only big deal throughout his prime and the Ottawa tax. Good point about him not being traded, but if you do.... lol

He's looked really good, but still a lot to prove with his injury/suspension he's missed a lot of games.

They'll bridge him 2 years at 4 - 4.5 million a season.

Colin White 2.0

You have no idea what you’re talking about . Colin White was always average . He got carried by Stone that 1 year because stone was insane at driving offence . And he got paid after 1 40pt season. Colin White was average at everything , playmaking , skating , defence was all average . He played like a 4th line energy guy the whole time.

Shane Pinto literally has a very good shot , and a lot of skills. He’s also a high end 200ft player

I would do 8 x 6.5 or 2 x 3.5 . No in between

Pinto would be a fool to sign an 8 year deal for $5M and he should fire his agent if he thinks otherwise.

Bridge deal. 2 years and fingers crossed it comes at $3.25M or less.

Everyone makes mistakes… that doesn’t really mean that he is a Colin White 2.0. That doesn’t really translate into him being a bad hockey player, or getting carried by line mates etc. I can agree with Csick that Shane Pinto is so much better. He is a sick hockey player, that I wish Edmonton had honestly.
