Canes decline. Hutson's a stud, but Carolina already have Nikishin whose purely better. Outside of him, there's 0 here interesting for Carolina. Maybe if you swap Anderson with one of Dach or Newhook and make the pick the Montreal pick, wherever that falls, Carolina might listen to losing TWO top six pieces, but otherwise, this is a pretty simple no

Is Aho coming back or something? Because that's the only way Canes get Slaf

Canes, for many reasons, are not a good trading partner right now. Our needs and surplus do not align.

Why is Edmonton trading for an LHD? Why is Carolina trading for a cap dump?

He can play RD if needed and if Desharnais is out of our price range then he would be a great replacement for him

What all time records did Nikishin break again?
I mean Damir Sharipzyanov has 3 points less then your dude and like your guy also jumped a ridiculous amount in points this year
Dont get me wrong, he's good ,But the Goaltenders in the KHL are not good at all as they face very few serious threats offensively
Radulov's Decline, Kovalchuks declined, heck even Linden Vey who had a great year last year as a KHL All Star has left the League for DEL

I mean last year Dmitri Jakin a Career 4th liner albeit with a Stanley Cup but i digress
He's the KHL's #1 Goal Scorer. I love Jaskin and he was a huge fan favorite here in Junior
But thats ****ing pathetic he's #1 in the KHL and the sad part is there's not much better then him
This year he was 150th in scoring while this year it gets even worse with many players who accomplished less then Jaskin on top
Gusev, R.Boucher,N.Goldobin, J. Weal and V.Tkachyov are the KHL's top guys
I mean Drunken Galchenyuk who joined later in the year is 16 goals and 26 assists for 42pts in 61 games just 2 spots ahead of Michkov who's 40th in KHL scorin

NCAA and Lane's competition is Elite Level but the KHL isnt anymore. He's at least facing off against 1st and 2nd round draft picks regularly.
Even Bogdon Konyuskov is a 21 year old KHL Captain playing big minutes in his Sophomore KHL season and i put very little stock in it until he plays against real competition.
He can beat Weal , Boucher, Gusev and a bunch of no name goalies to the point only the KHL's 10th Goalie in its top 10 was even drafted by a NHL team with only 5 in the KHL total who were.

You keep your guy
We're not giving up the guy who spanked Makar, Q.Hughes and A.Fox's numbers straight out the gate as he'd be hard to replace.
You could just sign Sharipzyanov effectively giving you someone playing that position and the same level with similar results.
We couldnt do that with Hutson

Oh you’re absolutely right lol. But the original offer was so ridiculous I figured I’d match how ridiculous it was with a ridiculous counter offer 😂

Lots of LHD can play RD, but they're almost always less effective there. Knoblauch likes to keep defensemen on their natural side anyhow.

Did you really just try to say NCAA is better than the KHL? Nikishin has the most points ever in a single season by a Russian defenseman, it's third all time... he's 21. He's the best defensive prospect in the world. Hutson's a stud, Nikishin's better.

Crap my Bad i didnt see Chris Lee was your guys pick , i thought it was that Russian 3 points ahead of the other Russian LD
I mean jesus he took out Darren Dietz to make 3rd all time in a single season hahaha
Thanks for making me look that up it provided Context

NCAA >KHL per every source since they went to War.
You literally cant find a trusted source who would suggest otherwise, its asinine
But again your guy can be replaced by Sharipzyanov who is 3 points behind him also in the record books it seems.

Either way KHL Quality went wayyyyyyyyyy down especially after Jokereit pulled an entire teams worth of KHL talent out of the league in Protest.
This is 2024 sir , if it was 2019 or 2020 you'd have a valid argument for at least a little while anyways.
More hostile Russia gets the worse off that league gets every passing season without fail

who ranked him best?

**Edit**
The Athletic did i see it now. Not the Best but they do put him 6 spots above Hutson for sure
Well ill take their word for it but i think its a hard sell in that league at this time

Nope he's ranked 8th by the athletic and Hutson ranked 14th
3rd among D was your guy while mine's 6th among D

I think the KHL is a weak league but 6'4 212lbs is a big boy as are most of the guys ranked ahead of Lane.
I dont have to like it but the reality is what it is when it comes to analysing players and size does matter when Skill is similar, you always choose the big>little one logically.

Are you insane... Slaf is probably going to be a stock top-6 guy that's not worth of a top-12 center

I think another thing to consider is the KHL is a league of grown men while the NCAA is not by it's very nature and Alexander Nikishin has shown that he can be not just a great skilled player in that league but provide some physicality

There's literally no one else on the Carolina roster Habs management accepts for Slaf.

Slafs progress and second half of this season has shown us Habs fans his potential. It's going to be unbearable in this site in any discussions about him, I'm calling it now.

True, but its not as much a mens league as it once was
230 Junior players are in the KHL this year and their Junior league's average age is 17-18 rather then 20-21 like years past .
It has a domino effect.

I mean if we're talking 2019 or 2020 KHL then yeah i'd argue it was 2nd only to the NHL
But right now thats not the case and losing Jokerit was a blow as they lost a lot of skilled players and also access to finnish players who was helping to bolster the league with Canadians

Right now its proven great giving a platform to younger players , true
But they're also playing against middling AHL players and a large amount of NHL washouts right now.
Gone are the days when Datsyuk ,Kovalchuk, Radulov, Shipachyov ,Kaprisov ,ext would lead the league as Legit Talents Taking the torch from Alexi Morozov the KHL's Gretzky equivalent

While the NCAA is stacked including having Levshunov the top ranked Russian player this year as at 17 he's a top NCAA defensman who could turn Pro next year
But he got there by leaving and proving he can do it on NHL style ice playing Western style hockey without skipping a beat
I guess im just of the opinion that until the War stops and KHL can continue back on pace with its expansion that its a hard sell to say KHL>NCAA when it produce's less NHL's in both quantity & Quality.
