Initial Creation Date: Mar. 29, 2024

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
- Bjugstad is very underrated and fills our 2C hole almost perfectly. Likely to re-sign as well
- Roy is the #1 RD we've been searching for and is *underpaid* at $6.25M. I don't love 5yrs but we might have to in order to sign him
- One of Cowan/Minten should be up by November and able to replace Tavares at 3C if necessary
- $500k cap space leaves room to add at the TDL (Dman or winger) and still extend Marner/Bjugstad/Knies/Woll since JT's contract expires after next year + cap going up to $93M in '26

Roy is very good.

But I've never heard anyone call him a #1D? 🙄

of the hundreds of bjug proposals (mostly by TML) this might be the worst

What? He's a UFA at $2.1M and unlikely to re-sign in ARI. That return is slightly more than what SEA got for Wennberg, who's worse and has a higher cap hit, and slightly less than what MTL got for Monahan, who's better but didn't have any money retained.

A 1st + lower-end prospect OR 1st + conditional 3rd/4th would be similar to Monahan, but it's not too different from Hirvonen + 3rd + 5th

why would the guy who signed twice with AZ and by everything he has said loves it here not resign?
a 22yo W w 4G 4 A in AHL is not a high end prospect and a 3rd + 5th is no where near 1st

AZ has no C older than 23yo, bjug plays role that team needs, unless its a huge overpay dont see any reason AZ has to deal him.

Welcome to CapFriendly. Sometimes, it's not too friendly.

Sorry, but Roni Hirvonen's trade value is nowhere near a first-round pick.

Different situation. Happened last offseason when he was coming off a poor season, and his value was down. ARI were likely the highest bidders and the reason he signed. He's at his highest value now, in the late prime of his career, likely to get one final deal. No reason why he'd want to stay with the Yotes if he wants to contend. No reason the Yotes wouldn't trade him for a 1st if the offer came, either.

He's very underrated as is, and would benefit from having better scorers on his wings and playing worse competition (going from 1C to 2C)

He's a lot better than what we have in Domi, anyways.

No, but he's similar to a late 2nd rounder, which is what NYR gave up for Wennberg + a 3rd. I'd be willing to part with a 1st for Bjugstad, cause it's similar to the Monahan deal as I said.

Aging, good rental players get traded to contenders all the time? Getting good draft picks/prospects for a guy like Bjugstad is page 1 of Rebuilding 101.

Yeah, he definitely loves playing in a minor-league arena on a terrible team.

no crap but does 2 more mid/late picks (when have 36 picks in next 3 drafts) and a low prospect (when have top 10 pool) warrant moving a guy that plays valuable role.

yeah because everyone is dying to get beat in first round every year. if he wants to play on successful team he wouldnt want to go to TML

Would a 1st + 4th/conditional 3rd be a better offer then?
