NYR should accept, but the NMCs likely prevent it from happening

for NYR it's a no brainer with how they played while Trouba was out. Schneider-Miller looked like a very solid 2nd pairing and Jones has been playing great.

Kinda funny, when Reilly was on his five game suspension, Leafs were on a western road trip. Leafs won all five games. As you suggest, when the cheaper "bottom enders" are playing above their contracts, gives team cap flexibility including trading higher cap players.

I doubt Yzerman has both Kasper AND Danielson starting with the big club, and I doubt he has them playing bottom 6 center roles. If Larkin is any indication, he'll probably start ONE of them with the big club, and have them on the wing, taking spot C duties with a veteran C to help
