Seems like an overpay to me.

Edit: I figured 4 x $4MM was fair: https://www.capfriendly.com/forums/thread/80566

So the Red Wings are now just over 3 million above the cap, with Athanasiou to sign (they have two extra D-men that they'll need to exchange for two forwards, so that pretty much cancels each other out). Franzen has about 3.95mil in LTIR.

Does anyone else think they now HAVE to make a move? But who could they possibly trade?

Looking at all the bad contracts on their team, this is one of the least problematic. He's one of their better players.

Id put him under guys like O. Palat and Tyler Johnson so market for him should of been in the 4.7/4.8 range if you ask me but I'm also a nobody from nowhere so what do I know.
