Have you seen how bad the Habs are at defence when Guhle is out? He's the only player on the team, including Matheson & Savard, who can defend against top lines.

This deal sets us back, and for what? A player with upside who has not been able to prove it like Dach was? Guhle is not Romanov. Guhle is way way better. As soon as you trade Guhle, you start looking for the next Guhle.

I know the Habs have tons of LD, but honestly none of them have remotely shown the ability Guhle has right now. To me the Habs trading Guhle is like Dallas trading Johnston.

Why trade a player that's working out, y'know?

Go sign a UFA center. I promise you Lindholm & Monahan will both outperform Johnson next year.

Jackets fans would tell you KJ has the same value as Slaf, so they'd disagree with you on that one

Guhle is intriguing but not worth giving up Kent Johnson. Jackets decline

On value, Columbus accepts and potentially adds slightly. But come on, we have this conversation nearly daily: Montreal and Columbus have similar things, need similar things, and have similar desired timelines to compete, we're terrible trade partners.

We're not trading our top forward prospect coming off major shoulder surgery for another LD in a crowded defense room, especially with Mateychuk on the way up and Provorov and Werenski already here.

There's nothing MTL has that also fits a Columbus need (Suzuki, Slafkovsky, Reinbacher, or the 2024 MTL 1st) that they'd be willing to move. A KJ trade isn't happening.

I think both teams feel the same. Both solid young players, Just doesn't make sense for either team

Agreed. I think the jackets and Habs are in similar spots. They both have a bunch of quantity of young players/prospects and are looking for premium talent. That’s why I don’t think they make good trading partners

If the Pens stay around where they are and the Jets are out round 1 its a solid offer that SJ should consider.
