Description

As I see it This is the last deal Vats will Sign with Anaheim anyway. So we are just moving a short term D asset for a short term O asset. The same could likely be said for Col and Duchene. We can spare a few extra pieces to get a deal done. Col would get a top 4 D who was a significant part of one of the top PK's for the last 2 seasons. Vats would likely fit well with either of Zadarov or EJ as they're both bigger guys that can help with Vats size. Another option could be using Kase instead of Nattinen as he is capable of stepping into the NHL. Ducks are still about 3 mill under the cap which gives BM flexibility.

As a comparison, Islanders offered Hamonic, a first, and more for Duchene. Sakic declined. I think it's not that far off of fair value, but then again Sakic is a true dumbass.
For Sakic to consider it you would need to include a first and more.

Also, the Ducks center core is already pretty deep with Getzlaf, Rakell and Kesler, but it is worth it to make those cup runs in the next 3 years. I wouldn't play him on the thrid line tho.

Im pretty sure I saw a report that Hamonic and the first were never offered together. I also tend to think Vatanen is better.

As far as center depth I dont particularly care for Rakell at center. He prefers wing as it lets him be more creative and hes not very good at faceoffs. Ideally i would want all 3 of Getzlaf, Duchene, and Kesler getting around 17 minutes a night with Vermette getting around 9. We'd have 3 legit dangerous lines to cause matchup hell for other teams.
