Description

Garth Snow on not re-signing his UFAs: "Obviously we wanted to keep John Tavares, but in the end he wanted a lot of money and 8 million was likely the highest we were going. We just felt like we had to move on. And then you look at our other UFAs, mainly Hickey, who wasn't as much of a key guy to the team as Tavares was, but you know, he and Josh Bailey we had to move on from."

Garth Snow on the trade with Vegas: "We had to get rid of some salary ... you know, to get guys like Reaves and Comeau. You have to give 3rd/4th liners a lot of money. It's a HUGE role and they need 5 million dollars at least depending on the player. We just really needed the cap space ... i value lower line forwards a fair amount higher than guys like Barzal and Lee, as i feel it's a bigger role."
