Description

Rangers need an affordable middle-6 center as a stop gap until Lias Andersson is ready to make the jump. The Bruins have been disappointed in Spooner's performance, and have a need to bolster their goalie depth. Holden is moved for cap space and used as defensive depth. The 2nd rounder is a sweetener.

Spooner signs a 1 year, 3 million dollar deal as a show-me, in order to eventually get a larger deal from another team, or if things change, the Rangers if they decide to move on from Hayes and move him.

Way overpaid, Holden and a 3rd rounder should do it. If not, the 2nd rounder certainly does. At which point I lose interest in the deal anyway. Why the goalie also?

That's for 2 years per arbitration rules. A 5-6 years would be more expensive considering the Rangers would be buying up UFA years.
