Re-tool post Lou: no clue of any of these UFA numbers and / or term.
Lee trade saw something similar makes sense for both parties.
Not sure of destination for Pageau and haul- assuming 2nd-3rd range. Team like devils with draft capital and need for 200ft center that can dominate the circle in postseason made sense.

That is a little light to take on 2 years remaining on Lee. Moving up 2 (or maybe only one spot if Vegas makes the conference finals) added to a late 2nd gives you a net of the #43 pick which again is not enough. Think that Lee contract needs to come with a pair of 2nds attached to it.

I think an expanded deal involving one of DuFour, Holmstrom, or Wahlstrom for an excess LHD prospect from the Hawks among Phillips, Allen, DelMastro, or Kaiser might make sense for both sides. Hawks have more NHL ready LHD than spots in the NHL lineup and need some NHL ready forwards with a little size to them.

I get what your saying on the value of the trade, but the Hawks aren't trading Kaiser, Allen or EDM after one pro season each for any of those Isles forwards. Phillips? OK. But the Hawks are going to give those other 3 at least another season to develop unless it's a deal for a legit, long term piece.

Basically a 2nd round pick to eat a ton of remaining cap for Lee, not gonna get it done. Take out the 1st going to NYI and CHI probably says yes.

I did not word it well, but yes 1 for 1 Phillips would be the only possible from the Hawks standpoint for those forwards....but...I think there is a bigger deal to be made around one of those D invilving a forward with picks and other pieces to even out value that could help both teams.

Hawks 2nd for the Isles 1st values out to a late first...which I think is at least getting closer to what it should take to take Lee at full cap...but still a little lite.

I would do NYI 2024 1st, Lee, & one of Wahlstrom/Holmstrom/Dufour for Hawks 2024 2nd, Phillips, & Joey Anderson

In fairness, Lee is not a cap dump. He's more in line w/ Hall. Lee is still a 20 goal scorer and a good player who would easily improve the Hawks top 6. It would easily cost the Hawks $5m at a minimum to being in a free agent who has Lee's ability. So asking a 1st and a 2nd to take Lee is definitely excessive. An extra $2m for two years shouldn't cost more than a 2nd in my opinion.

I am not giving a 34 year old coming off a 37 point season (5 of his goals were PP) anywhere near a 5 per year 2 year deal in free agency. Lee at this point is a 3-4 million per year player with a 7 per cap hit. He is not a dump as he can still play and very well might be a top 6 on the Hawks, but he is not a top 6 on a playoff team going forward. He represents a negative cap value of 7-8 million total on the 2 years he has left. Now the cap is going up this Summer and the cost to move cap should decline some (but I don't think it will be THAT drastic) and Lee's actually money owed was frontloaded so real dollars are less then cap, but he is still more than a late 2nd (which is all the 2nds the Isles have to offer) to move at full cap.
